Guest guest
Esther--I may have some good news re: the problem with your tummy now. I told my father, who also happens to be a surgeon, about your experiences of late and he said he experienced something very similar after his second surgery for cancer. He had major abdominal surgery which removed his spleen, pancreas, and a portion of the liver and after that he had lots of trouble with his stomach not working similar to yours. Evidently, the surgeon had irritated the vagus nerve, the one responsible for the stomach and they thought that they would have to re-route his entire digestive tract. Well, he said that with time the problem does go away, but the healing of the nerve is a very slow process. From what I told him of your story he said that the symptoms sound remarkably similar and that the band must be aggravating the problem with the restriction that it places on the stomach and the nerve. He told me to tell you that with time it will heal. I know patience is something we don't seem to have a lot of most of the time, but it seems that that is what may be needed in your situation. I hope this helps you to still feel hopeful that your situation can resolve itself. I know I am biased, but my father is an excellent surgeon-just recently retired- and I was glad that he had positive things to say re: your situation. Just wanted to pass that info along... I hope everyone has a terrific weekend--those of us in Melbourne will enjoy the cooler weather after sweltering yesterday. I am hoping the electricity restrictions are now a thing of the past! Take care everyone!
