I think you hit on all the "hot" topics of the day, and the last few days! The heat being one of them! It is very, very, blurry-eye-ingly humid and HOT! I'm headin' up for a cool bath, bout now...

Have you been dx'd with trigeminal neuralgia and/or received treatment for that? there are a few of us here that have it--Kathi, Sharon, and myself--I forget if there are any others--I will get 1/2 my tongue going numb. Not sure if it is the trigeminal neuralgia itself, or, if it is connected to one of 2 treatments I've had--more likely the Gamma Knife--which is not a knife but Cobalt radiation they target at the 5th cranial nerve--the trigeminal nerve.

As far as Provigil..what dose are you currently taking? 100 or 200 mgs? I might be inclined, if you are taking the 100--to cut that in half--start with 50 first thing in the morning, then the other half by 11 or noon, and then possibly another 1/2 by 2 or 3pm...but I'm not a dr....I just play one on the internet! I'd call my neuro if I were you. I'm on 200 mgs, but am going to ask with my refill, for 100 mg tabs, so I can take 1 in the am, 1 in the pm...I'm bad at names also, so you have company in that! I don't remember that tv show...we all are of varying ages...I do remember Winky Dink and you! ha, and Romper Room--those were the good ol days! Hello to all.. I've been offline for a few days and I'm just now catching up with all these emails! It's been really hot here, so I've been trying to stay cool and as relaxed as possible. I was reading the posts about the provigil...I take that once a day. The very first time I took it, I accidentally took 2 and I was up for 2 days, now I take one when I wake up but I still find myself being tired by noon. Should I ask about upping the dose or take another 1/2 a pill? I also have tingling in my face, neck, arm, torso, leg and foot. Sometimes it's not as noticeable as others, but when it kicks in it KICKS IN! My tongue has gone numb also, which is scary. As I'm new to group, please give me time to get to know all of you and hopefully I will remember names!! (I'm horrible at that!) OH I want to play that game too!! lol...Did anybody mention that one TV show where there were people sent back to the cave time, and the dinosaurs looked incredibly fake and would always chase the familY?? I can't think of the name for the life of me, but I remember growing up, that of the 3 channels we had, on Sat. morning's, that was it for kids' entertainment. Did you have surgery for your TN, Kate? This weekend mine flared up in the night (something that it never has done) and I laid there absolutely scared to move a muscle........my tongue, my jaw, my lips, anything. The electrical shocking pain came for no reason, every few minutes. I didn't sleep all night. The next day I was fine (well, it was there in my jaw, but I could eat and talk). I was scared to go to bed, but I actually slept all night. The next night it started again, but I remained calm and prayed to God to be with me. After a half hour or so, I actually slept all night. It was there in the morning...blanket brushed my cheek and sent pain in my face. How is yours now? Kathi

Hi Kathi~Yes, I had the microvascular decompression surgery on 8/25/05. I was pain-free for only 2 months! So upsetting. Then in November, 2006, I had the Gamma Knife procedure--it has worked somewhat, but I am not completely pain-free. I just went back on tegretol, 100mgs x 3/day; will probably increase up to 600mgs/day.

That sounds like a nightmare, Kathi--how upsetting for you...This TN is just plain awful. I remember I had lost 20 lbs from not eating for about 3 wks. Ha! I've gained back so much I should try that again! lol! blessings to you...prayers that the TN remits...and you are pain-free...love to you, kate

Hi Andi,

I have trouble keeping up here too!!!! I don't know about the

Provigil. You must have a high tolerance because I took one pill and

it kept me up for 2 days, lol!!!! I now take Amantadine and one pill

doesn't seem to be enough. Maybe I need more, never thought to even

ask. I'm so sick of pills.

What game are you all playing? I think that show was the Land of the

Lost. Those things were called Sleestaks or something like that and

there was a hairy type thing or cave person? I used to watch it but

it wasn't my favorite.

Take it easy and I hope you feel better, the heat really bothers me

too.

Hi Andi:I'm horribly behind on emails and I just read this one about the Provigil. What mg. are you taking? My doc gave me 200 mg. and said to take one at 8 a.m. and another at 12 noon. That was too much for me and I had jaw clenching at night. So I started breaking them in half and taking a half dose each time. I kept experimenting and found that I could even split them into quarters with my pill splitter and a 1/4 dose each time worked too. The cost of Provigil led me to ask my neuro about Ritalin. If it works okay I'll take it but if not I'll go back to Provigial.How are you doing with it now?Sharon This email is a natural hand made

I'm taking 200 mg of Provigil and thanks to my husband's insurance, it's not too bad of a price. I take them the same as you. I think sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.. I still need to lay down in the afternoon on most days. Have you started the Ritlin? If so, how do you like it? There are some days I wake up and with in 15-20 mins I'mso tired I have to lay back down. With me being new to all this, I don't know how I should react to my meds and if they are truly working.. My aunt put it best...her son had really bad allergies and until he got treatment for it, he didn't know there was a better way, so his sinus problems, etc were normal to him. Does that make sense?

Andi:I haven't gotten the Ritalin yet. I was going to get it at my regular pharmacy but I won't be able to get down there until next weekend I guess. But I will be able to get it as WalMart. What are the symptoms that give you the most problems right now? If no one knows what I'm talking about, at least I do!! lolAlso, my first car was an 82 Cutlass Supreme Brougham...I literally drove it until the wheels fell off...and the doors..and parts under the hood...To my fellow OCD family, my BIGGEST obsession is germs..anywhere. The symptoms that give me the most problems are fatigue , right side numbness and weakness. I cant' drive cuz I can't feel the petals (not that I was a good driver anyway!!) and the pain is mostly in my neck and arm, but also in my leg (right side). But I'd say fatigue is the main thing that stops me from doing what I want to do. And this heat!! You'll have to let me know how that Ritalin works out for you..I have my follow up w/ the neuro on the 10th.

Hello to all.. I've been offline for a few days and I'm just now catching up with all these emails! It's been really hot here, so I've been trying to stay cool and as relaxed as possible. I was reading the posts about the provigil...I take that once a day. The very first time I took it, I accidentally took 2 and I was up for 2 days, now I take one when I wake up but I still find myself being tired by noon. Should I ask about upping the dose or take another 1/2 a pill? I also have tingling in my face, neck, arm, torso, leg and foot.
