Dear Mindy~ I am so sorry you are having such a time of it! At least you DO seem to have your sense of humor, which serves us well; and it is TOTALLY necessary with MS! Take care of you right now. You'll get your shows booked--it will happen..blessings and much love, kate

ps...is it esp. quiet on this group today, or am I just not getting 'stuff' with OE?

I'm not doing too well. My left leg has not been cooperative. I keep telling it to mind me but it has some other plan to take over the world. Afterall, what other possible thing could be more important then obeying the person who is putting her full weight on you at every step. Grrrrr........Plus, I'm tired and grumpy and can't seem to get my act together to get some shows booked for July. My poor family is going to starve!!Mindy

Hi,

I know we still don't have a diagnosis but I need your guys help. I hope its ok.

Bill has had new symptoms. He is experience periods of confusion and jags of crying for no apparent reason (he can't even tell you why). He is a nurse and last week found himself at his med cart having no idea what he was supposed to do or had already done for that matter. It scared him really bad and after talking to his DON decided to take fmla. His work had actually already talked to him about this the week before because he was missing work and going home sick so much.

We took the paperwork to our GP, because the neuro can't see him until july 16th and that will be too late to get the paperwork back in. Our GP's PA refused to fill it out, she says the neuro has to.

So I asked for a referral to a different neuro. The nurse told me flat out that once you saw this particular neuro, no other doctor in Tallahassee will see you. WHAT? What happened to the right to a second opinion? Has anyone ever heard of this.

In the meantime, I found a neuro near his dads in Clearwater that comes highly recommended. He can see bill on Wednesday. We will have to pay out of pocket but thats ok.

Now, here is my predicament. If we go see the Clearwater neuro he will ask for the records and our Tallahassee neuro will find out. I am afraid he will fire us, leaving Bill with no treatment options in Tallahassee, no fmla protection meaning no insurance.

and if that happens, what am I supposed to do? Just watch my husband deteriorate? I am starting to panic. What should we do? Make the appt or not? Does anyone know how much time we have by law to get the fmla paperwork filled out?

May God bless you and keep you until we meet again!

Dear ...just my opinion. I'd call the fellow in Clearwater, and give him a 'head's up'; be honest and straightforward, and explain that your dh NEEDS to be seen ASAP, due to increasing worsening; and how it is crucial to his job. I'd also inform him the other doc's way of operating, and share with this Clearwater's office/doc your fear of not being able to be seen by the other doc. It sounds quite bizarre to me. I mean, do you really want to see this doc that has such "anal-retentive" agenda?--sorry, for lack of a better way to put it--

It is hard for me to believe, unless you have a real limited insurance--that there are NO other neuros that are on your insurance plan...When we started with Empire Blue Cross-NY State Gov't employee program insurance, they sent us a book listing all docs/specialties, where they are located, tel. #'s etc. That way, we can 'shop' around. Granted, there are not a whole lot of neuros listed, but there are at least 6 in my area.

There are surely others on this group, that can relate to this problem you are having; I feel so bad you have to go through this--bad enough Bill has MS, along with the new symptoms.

The crying thing--gee, there is a name for it, forget what it's called--can very much go along with MS. The cognitive stuff, also is part of MS, or can be. As a matter of fact , I have a 10am to 2pm appt with a neuropsychologist tomorrow, to start the battery of cognitive testing. Please know I am thinking of you and praying for you both, and this entire situation. Let us know what happens, ok? blessings and love, kate
