Hey Dana, initially we didn't eat any grains or nuts. When digestion started

to improve ( I wasn't finding kale in the potty anymore) we started with quinoa.

I started finding this in the potty. So I started soaking it.

We soaked for 24 hours with some young coconut kefir in the soak. Then moved to

36 hours for soaking. This really helped digestion. Basically just fill a bowl

with good filtered water and the yck. Then it's important to rinse really

well. Especially quinoa as it has a real aftertaste. I have a metal screen

basket with handle and a metal screen collindar.

As our kids were healing (after a year or so) we didn't have to soak everything

so long and always with yck. In the beginning this was critical.

I still have something soaking on my counter every night. Right now it's flax

seeds.

We can now eat all seed grains, millet, quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat, pecans,

almonds, cashews, walnuts, seeds, and flax. I soak it all but usually just

over night....kind of a before bed routine.

Blessings dear friend!

Thank you so much! My boys are doing so much better and they are eating so much more of a healthy variety and believe it or not, now eating green smoothies every day with 1 granny smith apple, celery, cucumber, avocado, and some type of green. I am not seeing undigested food so much anymore but they occasionally struggle with constipation and I have to jump start things with oxy powder.

So, I was hoping to add to their variety with some kind of soaked BED grain. Do you sprout them at all or just soak? That is what confuses me is the difference and how do you sprout - is that important?

I am so excited that your kids are doing so well! If we could get mine talking I would be ecstatic! They are still completely nonverbal but we see improvement in so many areas. Still no pretend play either. But we keep moving in a good direction, so I feel it is all going to come.

How is the Sonrise therapy going? Are you still doing that?

Dana we love sonrise. Tyler's typical now. It's amazing. Today I worked

with a mom who had twin boys who are non verbal but make lots of sounds. I got

them to say EAT, THANK YOU, and a full sentence came out....I DON'T WANT IT.

Mom couldn't believe it, she was so proud and beaming at her boys capabilities.

Sonrise is a beautiful way to work with kids. You connect with them and they

WANT to be with you, talk with you. In one day I got them to eat cultured

vegetables. They had so much fun too.

Ok so for soaking, quinoa will sprout and you'll see a little tail. Just soak

it all at least overnight and with yck if you can. If you can soak longer 24

hours will do the trick.

I'm soooo excited for you with all your hard work and the boys' progress.

Hi Cristy, best to use a vitamix, but I don't have one yet. A vitamix is good

because it keeps the fiber.

Ok what I did was buy a cheap Jack Lalane (bed bath and beyond) juicer and I

have a blender. So I juice:

22-3 stalkscelery

1 bunch romaine

1 cucumber

bit of ginger

1-3 apple

1 bunch parsley

Then take this juice to the blender. Next I add raw protein powder such as

hemp, chia, br rice protein. I add coconut oil or avacado for fat. You

could add some nut butter. I add flax meal too since I lost the fiber bulk in

juicing.

This can last 24 hours in fridge. I had my kids drink shots of it all day long.

First green drink.....then _________.

Not a good idea to juice spinach or kale or other cruciferous veges as they

affect thyroid. You can lightly steam or ferment these though. Just not eaten

raw. You can find more info at WESTON PRICE on this issue. YOu can juice

lettuce leaves to get greens in.

Yeah I decided to be mad for a few days over the raw cruciferous thing. We just

keep learning!
