Guest guest
You won't get shot from me. I've just been through a very nasty divorce, and left cause of a control freak. I have relocated, and do feel lots better about my self. I was at the point where I denied my self to be her puppet and robot. Now my last check with the doctor, I've lost more weight, and my sugars are where she wants them. But she says I need to be on a cholesterol med. And so that's what I'm doing. I've lost 25 pounds since I was diagnosed in February of this year. I know I don't post on a regular basis. Sorry about that. II had to get a new acucheck voicemate. My other one locked up, and so I phoned the 800 number listed on the tapes, and they sent me a new one, UPS overnight, and I mailed the old one back last Friday. So those folks are grate to work with. Take care all. If I was as sure of God as I am about the ground beneath my feet, how often would I think of God? Guest guest
Hi Debbie, we all have moments! It doesn't matter how long we have been without sight! What we need to do, is to examine our feelings, figure out why we feel that way, and then figure out what we can do to change the way that we feel about things! Sometimes, we need help to figure out our feelings and put them into perspective! We can't change the world, we can only change the way we feel about it! Sometimes, talking to a friend, and just hearing ourselves talk, helps us to see things in a different light! If you don't have anyone to talk with, try talking into a recorder, and then listen! Try to focus on the positive things in your life! Yes! everybody does have positive things about their life, if you look for it! Guest guest
What man or what woman would want the perfect mate? Would they be able to handle it, I think not. No one is perfect; we all are crippled in some form or other, physicaly or menntally; shyness or arragants. However all of us has something to offer each other; can anyone say careing, understanding, love, help, and forgiveness My wife and I have been married fifty two years, she was in an accident ten years ago and can barely stand or walk even witha support of one kind of other; and I lost my sight five years ago. We fuss eachday and make up each night before we go to sleep and we still keep each others feet warm. With the help of the good Lord you can cope. Sorry if this does not make any sense, just had to say something. Guest guest
Debbie, after all I went through, I've finally found someone who's accepted me for what I am. We don't argue and fight. We feel that it's useless. We were from previous marriages that were very controlling. The only difference is that her husband passed away, and I divorced my wife. I think you'll find someone for you. If I was as sure of God as I am about the ground beneath my feet, how often would I think of God? Guest guest
Well, I might as well put in my two cents here. Seems as good a time as any to me. I asked a question earlier and it was " what woman would want a blind man for a husband? " or something to that effect. The answer is the same type person who would look at the heart of the person first and the physical extremities last. , you are right on in your assessment of the situation. If you are looking for a mate look first at what is in the heart. Find someone who is kind and gentle, someone who will be loyal and true and someone who wants to be with you because they love you not for what physical possessions or attributes you have but what your intentions and objectives are. I am blind and my new (relatively speaking) wife is sighted. My wife is a diabetic and that is why I am on this list, to learn as much as I can learn in order to help her and understand her problems more clearly. Both of us have some sort of handicap (and her Diabetes is not the handicap I refer to) but when we combine our resources we are a strong and formidable team. God has given me a mate who sees what and who I am on the inside and not just the outside appearances. I used to give an analogy to my boys which went something like this: Now, that brand new Corvette sure looks shiny and sleek. It requires premium feul but it will run well over 140 mph and it will eat up a quarter mile in nothing flat. Now, over there is a sturdy 4x4 truck. It is not sleek and it is not just real quick off the line but it uses regular feul and it is sturdy. When the super highway ends and the detour turns into a muddy road filled with pot holes and rocks which of the two vehicles do you think will pull you through? It is the same when selecting a companion. What may look supple and inviting today may well not weather the road when it really gets to the tough going stage. The sleek, sensuous creature you so admire may well not take kindly to traveling down that old Hardship Road. It may require frequent body make overs and patches just to keep it running and, in fact, you may have to just let it stay in the garage when the weather is inclement. Better take the old reliable truck because it will (as they used to say about a Timex) take a licking and keep on ticking. Cy, the Ancient Okie... Guest guest
Hi , My wife and I have been married nearly 7 and a half years, and every night before we go to sleep, regardless of what we might have said to each other during the day. The last words we always say, Good night, God Bless, Sweet Dreams and I Love You. gave up living in Florida to move to the UK. We're both totally blind, and with the other health problems I have had over the last 2 or 3 years, she has been an angel and a friend as much as being my wife. Guest guest
Hi to all, I have been to the Oklahoma Council of the Blind meeting all weekend in Tulsa Oklahoma. While trying to catch up on my emails, I noticed some personal post about the lives of blind persons. and I enjoyed them so much that I wanted to express my thoughts a little Please forgive if you find it annoying. I have enjoyed reading some of the posts that you have been posting and I decided that I would put my two cents worth in. I met my wife in 1959 and we both graduated from the Oklahoma School for the Blind in 1960. Also among the graduates was Cy Selfridge, better known on this list as The Ancient Okie. My wife had become a low partial due to a accident when she was about 4 years old. She stuck a pair of scissors in one eye and due to infection, it later affected the other eye. I lost the sight in my left eye when I was about 2 years old. I was the youngest of three boys. An older brother had sneaked a butcher knife out of the house and was throwing it into hard dirt, trying to stick it in the ground. I was outside watching. It bounced up and hit me in the left eye. I lost all of the sight in that eye. However, I had perfect vision in the right eye. When old enough I received a drivers license and seamed to do fine with the one eye. While a senior in high school, I was working at a trucking company, after school and on Saturdays. One day the mechanic started knocking a gear on a shaft with a hammer and a piece of metal chipped off and struck me in the right eye, The good one. I spent the summer in the hospital and still lacked 2 credits to graduate from high school. I was left with partial sight in the right eye and I am thankful for that, but it changed my life tremendously. That is when I finishe the 2 credits at the school for the blind, and I met my wife. We was married in 1961, and are still married. We have two children that we have tryed to teach the importance of being self supporting and being a responsible citizen. We now have 5 grand children and two great grand children. I don't regret any part of my life. It probly has made me a better berson. I retired about ten years ago and we just are enjoying life. In November, we will have been married for 45 years. My son is a Major on the Oklahoma City Fire Department and my daughter is trying to get her youngest daughter through high school. She is a junior this year. Contrary to what some may think. I am a blessed man Jerry Litterell Talk >>> >>> > > >>> >>> > > > >>> >>> > > >> >>> >>> > > >> >>> >>> > > >> >>> >>> > > >> Does amyone in this group talk or do you just send recipies? >>> I >>> >>> am >>> >>> > > > not interested in your recipies at akk.Does anyone talk in >>> here? >>> >>> > > > Are any pf you employed?
