Guest guest
I love all of this discussion regarding UHC and ACN. It is absolutely ludicrous that we are all " forced " to comply with all of these non-sensical rules, regulations, paperwork, reviews, etc., etc., etc., and are also " forced " to take it or leave it when it comes to reimbursement. I called ACN to find out who they are and what their initials stand for, as nowhere in any of their correspondence, or letters, do they indicate what ACN stands for. I called their office and after an unbelievably long wait was told by the girl that she did not know what ACN meant. I had to ask her to check with her supervisor for an answer. Her supervisor said they are " just a bunch of letters, they don't mean anything. " I then called UHC and again after an unbelievable hold time, was told that they did not know what ACN stood for. I did not give up and spoke to several people who did not know and obviously did not care. I finally found out that it is a CHIROPRACTIC NETWORK. No one knew what the " A " stood for. I asked what is a Chiropractic network doing, regulating physical therapists? You guessed it.she had no clue. ACN will also be looking over our shoulder with our AETNA and BCBS patients shortly. Soon every insurance will probably fall under their black cloud. Certainly we can go to our legislators and complain and join the APTA, which we have. But nothing significant is getting down. We are sinking on the Titanic and we are shoveling out the water with teaspoons. Something DRASTIC must be done or none of us may be here in a year or two on PTManager because we will have closed our doors. A doctor in our building is a dentist and he refuses any insurance. All of his patients pay cash for their $10,000 dentures. He has one girl, no auths. no billing, no collections, no appeals, and very little overhead. When we all band together and refuse to accept any insurance plan that is unjust, then we will make it. In the meantime, we are " forced " to accept these Mickey Mouse plans because our physical therapy neighbor accepts these plans and of course we will lose our patients to them.
