Guest guest
I am curious. We are considering adding a pool to our facility. Has anyone added a pool and encountered resistance from the staff or has it generally been well received? Thanks Tim Pedersen PT
Guest guest
I've done this on a couple of occasions and your staff is the least of your worries as it's a very nice addition. It can be done smoothly and affordably if you do good advance planning and understand the bureaucratic and logistical hurdles you face. If you want to contact me privately with a list of questions and/or a time to talk, I'll give you my thoughts. Long story short, at one point " HS " took over a surgery center we were in and tried to accelerate terms of our lease to " steal " our pool. We took them to court and won a permanent injunction from them ever using the pool. We went next door and put in a pool on the first floor of an existing five story medical building attached to the hospital. The building had been there 20 years so it became quite the project. We got it done and it was a great experience. HS turned our old pool into a filing cabinet/storage hole. Poetic justice I think. Among the challenges were conflicting city requirements vs. Medicare, excavation and building at night as not to disturb other tenants, special ventilation, etc. The number one thing that worked was shopping the pool price and not the location or purpose. Had we specified it to be a therapy pool in a medical building, as a friend did, it could have been $200K+. Instead we got it done for about $26K and it was perfect. I'm happy to share details and strategy. Take care. Doug Doug Sparks Advanced Physical Therapy Concepts / APTC www.aptc.biz<http://www.aptc.biz/> doug@... Adding a Pool I am curious. Guest guest
Depends, do you have an " expert " or someone versed in aquatic therapy? Once a therapist becomes comfortable and understands the aquatic therapy benefits ,they will use it. We have one pool, I wish I had built two. How did the thought to add come about , from above or from within? Ron Barbato PT Corporate Director, Rehabilitation Services Ephraim McDowell Health Voice: Fax: rbarbato@...
