Guest guest
You must remember that Meditec is primarily designed for nursing documentation. As such it has limitations for other disciplines. I have found PCS to be tolerable as an inpatient documentation method ( I custom built all of the assessments) but very cumbersome on the OP side, so much so we have reverted to written documentation until the bugs are worked out. Ron Barbato PT Corporate Director, Rehabilitation Services Ephraim McDowell Health Voice: Fax: rbarbato@... Meditech I recently joined a facility that uses Meditech for its outpatient documentation. Meditech has two modules for documentation, ITS and PCS. We primarily use PCS. The process of documenting new evaluations, plans of care and ongoing treatment notes and charges is cumbersome in the manner that we have things organized and built. Are there any other Meditech users on the listserv that have found success in building more efficient documentation tools within either PCS or ITS. Your feedback and thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I am willing to hold this discussion on or off the listserv. Thanks so much! O. Guest guest
We went live on Meditech in Dec 2005. We use ITS. We have built " templates " for over 30 diagnostic groups based on the clinical guidelines we've established. We already had the templates in Word, so it was not difficult to rebuild them in Meditech. We only use Meditech for evals, progress and dc summaries. Therapists dictate, our secretaries type. The therapists autofax after signing off. We still handwrite daily notes, flow charts and a number of forms used to collect subjective and objective data. Therefore we still send our outpatient charts for microfilm for long term storage. Feel free to give me a call at . My hospital email address is _Cornwell@... Guest guest
ITS is used for other departments, which seem quite happy with it. PCS needs to be customized for your outpatient documentation. Get one of your staff members on the IT dept. staff to help build your screens so they are more user friendly. Meditech was obviously not built for therapies, but can be customized to work. There are better systems to my understanding, but the billing dept. pushed for meditech. Guest guest
Ron, (or anyone else with Meditech PCS) Our facility is just getting started with the Meditech PCS module. Are you interested in sharing your custom built assessments or other documents built in Meditech's PCS? Thanks Laurie Olson lolson@...
