Are whole wheat/multigrain pastas as bad as white pasta? Same with rice? I don't

eat white pasta but I do eat the whole wheat or multigrain ones, usually only a

cup at any one time, or half a cup if it's rice.

If I were to eat pasta, it would definitely have to be whole grain. All

grains are mostly carbs.

Ruth,

I must be the lucky one then, as my Diabetic doctor is a diabetic himself.

So I feel that I am in good hands.

I use Dreamfiled's pasta. It is supposedly less carbs than regular

spaghetti as it is made with more fiber. I know that it does not put as

many carbs in me as regular spaghetti. I found this out by taking as much

insulin as I normally would for a cup of spaghetti and within an hour after

eating the Dreamfield's brand I was in reaction!-and my sugar did not go up

later either. Dreamfileds.com

Hi Jen,

This is Harry's choice not to eat pasta. My dietician tells me that the

whole wheat pasta is better. The fiber in the whole wheat pasta slows down

the absorption of the carbs. She also tells me the brown rice is better or

the converted rice. Rice is one cup to get a starch. Do not touch Minute

Rice as it is quite high in carbs. It's all in the processing.

What is the total carb content of whole wheat pasta and what is the carb

content of regular or white pasta? Total carb consumption is the key. I

realize that some carbs have a slower peak or practically no peak in one's

bs level, but insulin, whether you make it yourself inside your body or you

inject it from an outside source gets around to working on all of the carbs,

the total carbs. I am well aware of the glycemic index, and I highly

recommend eating foods with a low GI score. I definitely agree that low GI

foods are better for you than regular foods like a slice of white bread or a

serving of mashed potatoes, which actually contains more carbs in it than a

slice of bread.

Whole grain barley is an excellent choice for a GI food, but still others

prefer Captain Crunch.

Thanks ,

I will have to look for this brand E Dreamfield's brand has 3 grams per

serving (1/2 cup

According to my old carb guide a cup of pasta has around 40 grams of carbs.

If one is counting carbs it seems like E Dreamfield's brand has 3 grams per

serving (1/2 cup would be a no brainer.

It would be 6 carbs compared to 40 grams of carbs.

Harry,

My niece found the E Dreamfield products on the web and you could order them

on-line.

By the way, I know that there are some of you ancient fossils out there who

are at least as old as I am so, does anyone remember " My Friend Irma " ?

She was a genuine clueless blonde who was probably a couple of cards short

of a full deck and her " boyfriend " was equally mentally endowed.

Anyway, my poor niece sure reminds me of Irma. (LOL)

It's good! I found it originally on the website: dreamfields.com, but then

I ended up buying it at Alberonsons s I could not figure out how to buy it

on line. Re: Re message for Harry
