Re: New Pics, Look at the 1 of My Knee.

Trista~you bring to mind a great story, one you should share with your

FIL...So, my sister, this goes back years ago...just had her 3rd boy..she had

been a bit bummed, as she was so hoping for a girl...She sees this woman in

church on Palm Sunday with her 4 boys...Afterwards, she approaches her and

asks--listen, I just have to ask you...as I just had my 3rd boy--and am thinking

about trying for a girl--again...how does it feel to have had 3 boys, then go on

to have a 4th?? The woman smiled slightly, and said, oh no...I don't have 4

boys...the other 3 are at home with dad!!!! My sister almost passed out right

there.. and said--I'm done!! She felt like it was some sort of 'omen' that the

woman she chose to speak to, had 7 sons! Giggling here just thinking about

it...My sister, Pat, has been a bit envious that I went on to having 3 girls and

2 boys. lol..blessings...kate

Sharon,

I know this is a tad bit late....... however.. Yup.. a child's gender is determined by the father.. that's one of the reasons why the X got all the flack about my youngest being a boy... "He couldn't even follow the pattern in front of him!"... lol

Re: New Pics, Look at the 1 of My Knee.

Isn't the sex of the child determined by the father? Or am I remembering my biology all wrong? My parents had 3 boys and then finally me. Then their life was complete! lol (the 3rd boy died 11 hours after birth) I was the only girl and I was spoiled rotten. Maybe that's why my two brothers don't speak to me. lolSharon

Donna, we have that same saying here. lol. That same little girl had an older brother who was equally annoying. One day at a street fair when I was still a single mom, and my older boys were still small, he made an almost lethal error. This little boy (same age as my oldest, which was 8 at the time) raised his hand to his mother when she was scolding him. You should have seen my son's face! lol. He KNEW that if that had been him, he would have been seeing God very soon. lol. I ended up not hanging around with this woman anymore, because there were just too many negative influences. When I met my husband, she even tried flirting with him. (and a previous boyfriend) So, I agree, it IS the parents. I shudder to think what those kids are doing now at 14 and 12. Scary. And mine are still here, respecting authority and glad they are disciplined. I never wonder where they are, I KNOW.

Hugs, Trista~~~~~~~~~~~And he said unto me, MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR THEE;FOR MY STRENGTH IS MADE PERFECT IN WEAKNESS.

Re: New Pics, Look at the 1 of My Knee.

I've been around little girls that drove me crazy with whining. (a former friend's daughter) I wondered if it was girls that were annoying, or just this particular child. I decided it was just her. lol. But, my cousin (same age as my oldest) was equally annoying when I baby sat her. If I ever do get a girl, she will probably end up a tomboy. lol. NEVER a snotty, little, think she's a princess, Paris Hilton type. lol.

Trista,

Well my boys were boys, ALL boy... So I did have to wonder where they were.. even when I KNEW where they were.. LOL.. My oldest had a quad, and when riding this quad he was supposed to wear a helmet (full face helmet yet to boot).. Now when he left home on the quad he was wearing it, and when he arrived back home, he was wearing it... Then we noticed this spot where the paint was scuffed off the helmet. Being as this was the hubby's racing helmet as well (he was/is a drag racer, at the track not on the street) we had to find out if this helmet was involved in an accident, or dropped or just what caused the paint to be scuffed (in either case it would have to be inspected and re-tagged by a professional company to make sure it still held safety standards, and we wanted to make sure no one had gotten hurt either).. When questioned, we found out that NO, he hadn't taken a spill from the quad.. and NO, he hadn't dropped it.. We did find out that the minute he was out of sight of the house, he stopped the quad, took off the helmet and strapped it fast to the rack on the back of the quad, and before he came home, he put it back on.. and the helmet at one point had loosened enough that the rear tire of the quad, rubbed the paint off the helmet!!! Yes, it was quite awhile before he was allowed to take the quad out of our sight again to ride it...and probably quite fortunate that someone decided they wanted the quad much more than we needed it.. so they stole it!!! [it was parked behind a ton of trash cans that had to be moved, and it was chained to the porch with a logging chain.. Neighbors never heard the trash cans being moved, and whoever stole it came prepared with a bolt cutter large enough to cut through a logging chain. One neighbor saw what was happening, and called the police, telling them which direction the the thieves had taken, with the quad loaded on a trailer.. The police came in from the opposite direction, behind the thieves!!! We never did recover that quad.. might have been a fortunate thing for us in the long run..

The youngest, well he was truant quite frequently, and I STILL to this day don't know how he did it!! I WATCHED him get on the school bus... I probably should have walked him to the end of the driveway and physically PUT him on the bus.. but he was in Junior High School, and he'd have never ever forgiven me for something like that... He did mumble something about hiding out in the motor home from time to time, or bending over to pretend to pick something up along side the pick-up truck in the driveway, so the bus driver didn't see him, and would keep on going..

So I know that my boys weren't angels.. but who in their right mind would believe that they were angels 100% of the time anyway? I did allow them to be, as some people referred to it, as "mouthy" with me... Not beligerent, not insulting.. but they were allowed to form their own opinions about things, and they were allowed to argue a point.. I'd tell them NO, you can't do this or that, and these are the reasons (I allowed them to ask me "why not" and I didn't reply "because I said so").. They in turn were allowed to present arguments as to why they should be allowed to do something. Now I know that one of adult friends didn't like that I allowed that at all.. She demanded uniequivocal obedience from her kids, regardless of what the situation was.... "No, you can't go to the school dance tonight"... ummm.. and I wanted to ask her "why not".. I mean.. your grades aren't good enough this semester for extracurricular activities... would have been a good reason, and one the kid should KNOW... You left the dance with a Senior at the last dance, and you're a Freshman.. would have been a reason the kid should KNOW.. Even an "I can't afford to buy your ticket this week" is a reason the kid should know..

I guess I'm strange.. but I didn't allow baby-talk around my boys.. babies learn to talk by what they hear from adults around them. They learn behavior by example.. If I don't take you to church, and teach you how to behave in church, you're going to be a little heathen. If I don't take you to a funeral or funeral home to pay your repects and teach you how to act respectful and behave in a place like that.. how do they learn.. And if I don't allow you to debate your opinions and try to persuade me that you might be right and I might be wrong, how will you grow into a thinking decisive adult?

Yeah, I'm strange.. and it's hard, and it hurts sometimes, well alot of the time, but I did raise two boys (one of them is gone now) that were able to deal with problems in their day to day lives without having to come running to mom to help solve them. The only time I hear/heard from them about problems was or is when the problem was too serious for them to think the resolution through themselves... Or they just need/needed a sounding board or outside input about the situation.

I guess I did okay... even if they don't/didn't need their mommy in their lives every second of every day... :(
