Guest guest
Hello Ruth, Welcome to the list! My name is Danny, and I live in Dunwoody, Georgia. I've been a type 1 diabetic for 46 years, and I'm completely blind. I have two daughters, 12 and 9. My wife has been diagnosed a type 2 diabetic about two years ago. I look forward to your insights. Guest guest
Hi Danny, Thank you for the welcome. My brother was also diabetic for 48 years until recently. He had a pancreas-kidney transplant and he is doing wonderfully. Have you ever thought about a pancreas transplant? My brother does not know what to do with himself since he has been transplanted. He knows nothing else other than the diabetic life. I'm sure you feel the same after 46 years. I know that I do after 32 years. It's a bummer, but I also think it makes us tough. Anyways thanks again for the welcome. Talk to you again. Ruth Re: introduction and prodigy update Hello Ruth, Welcome to the list! My name is Danny, and I live in Dunwoody, Georgia. Guest guest
Hi Ruth, To be honest, I've never really given it much thought. I do have a number of complications from diabetes that might make me somewhat of a risky candidate, but I think I will ask my diabetologist about a transplant any way. Thanks for asking! I'm so glad to hear that your brother is doing so well. I'm sure he feels foot loose and fancy free after trying to live within the doos and doughn'ts of the diabetic life for 48 years! Guest guest
Hi Danny, I too, have had other complications besides the blindness from the diabetes. I have also been on dialysis,, had a kidney transplant, and had a stroke which partially paralyzed me on my left side about 6 years ago. I am enquiring presently about pancreas transplant after kidney transplant. As I say, diabetes is the disease which keeps on giving, whether you want it or not. And yes, my brother does feel footloose and fancy free after his double transplant. Keep truckin. Guest guest
Danny, I am going into kidney failure, so have looked into transplants. They will not do just a pancreas transplant unless you need a kidney transplant-and often if there are a re a number of other ocmplications, they will not deem you eligible! But, I think it depends on where you go to do the transplant too. Re: introduction and prodigy update Hi Ruth, To be honest, I've never really given it much thought. Guest guest
Hi , No, I live in Winnipeg. I bought the Prodigy because it was exactly what I was looking for. With the dollar like it is, I can afford to buy it from there. I will claim the strips later on income tax. I am really impressed with the Prodigy! I find it very easy to use. Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for the info. I have some protein spillage, but I' am not at kidney failure yet.
