The first night I woke up at 12:30 and I was shaking from being cold. So I put on an extra comforter and snuggled back in. I woke again at 3 and I was HOT! I was sweating and the muscles in my legs and upper arms were spasming. I threw off the covers and turned on the fan. I slept fitfully the entire night and when I was sleeping I dreamed some bizarre dreams indeed. I finally got up at 5:30 after trying to sleep. I had to go to the bathroom to pee three times that first night too. I have slept a lot, had strange goose bump feelings up and down my arms.... You know how it is--any illness brings along an increase in MS symptoms. But now I'm better and trying to get back into the swing of things. I did go to the rheumatologist on Wednesday. I have had a severe dry mouth and vocal cord dysfunction that improved the last time I was on steroids (in April). So my internist wanted me to see this rheumaotologist. I would never see her again. I think she has an aversion to fat folks. She didn't say anything but I could feel it. Anyway she doesn't think I have Sjogren's Syndrome but did some blood work anyway. She thinks my dry mouth is from my meds and the dry climate here in the Arizona desert. That doesn't really explain why the symptoms improved on steroids though. I don't want to have Sjogren's Syndrome but if it's not Sjogren's causing the vocal cord dysfunction then it leaves MS as the cause. And I hate that idea. I just keep reminding myself there are worse things out there than MS. hugs))) Sharon Get your own web address.Have a HUGE year through Yahoo! Small Business. Guest guest
Hey Sharon.Im so sorry you have been feeln awful.Well, forget that lady. She probably fits into the " sucky specialist " area.lol.At least she did blood.I know what you mean, sjorgens would explain but ms getn worse,NO WAY! Dont worry till the tests come back. Each thing can be ruled out,are you taking any meds that could possibly be causing those symptoms? How long till your blood tests come back?Im prayn for you.You know how those autoimmune diseases work, once you get one sometimes you get more.I wonder if I got 2 that are causing overlapping symptoms.I think its pretty common.Lots of luv to you and hope you feel better soon, cassy [wobbletowalk@...] wrote: I guess I picked up some kind of " bug " or something. Guest guest
Sharon~ I do hope you get to feeling better real soon. My goodness, what an ordeal. Have you had your potassium checked lately? I know when mine gets low I tend to feel like I have the flu. Freezing cold one minute/burning up the next. Achy all over, bad dreams, etc. I also have dry mouth. Don't know why. But, I'm pretty sure that's what's causing most of my dental problems. Yeah, you are right. There are worse things than MS, but MS is bad enough without everything else that comes along. Lifting you in prayer... Re: Been down & doc report Sharon, I pray you feel better real soon. Blessings ChuckSharon Marsden <wobbletowalk> wrote: I guess I picked up some kind of "bug" or something. Guest guest
Val:Thanks for the good thoughts. About your dry mouth--are you aware of the symptoms of Sjogren's Syndrome? Dry mouth, dry eyes, dry everything. But not everyone has all the symptoms at once. One of the biggies is they talk about dental problems so I'll bet you're right and the dry mouth is causing your dental problems. Me too. My teeth are falling apart. Guest guest
Sorry you are not feeling well Sharon...I also hear you about docs that act, in some intangible way, critical of overweight folk--I can relate..I'm 5'2"; used to be 5'3", and, well, let's just say, my weight is more appropriate for someone who'd be, like, say, 6'3"...All that has to happen is--I need to grow taller! Did you at least ask her opinion on ,what might her thought be then, that this dry mouth, etc. DID improve on steroids. I'd think I'd put her on the spot..I always do it in a subtle way..like--well, gee, why might you think blah-blah-blah would have improved while I was on, blah, blah med? I'm interested in your opinion on this... Oh, I have to share a little giggle here...Was at the Bear Mt. MS Walk yesterday...There were many folks, with and without MS. 2 really cute men in scooters. 1 approached me and said, thanks for volunteering--and handed me a 2007 shiny penny that was set in an aluminum circle that was engraved with Bear Mt. MS Walk, and the date..on the back it said something cute like-I'll give you a penny for your thoughts, and you put you 2 cents in,here's your change...lol--it's a keeper...Then the other fellow came over to me to chat--I was volunteering at the 'goody bag' table..We started chatting about MS and drugs, and mostly neurologists...We spoke about knowing Dr. Duncan. This fellow was from a different county than me, so didn't know the various docs I mentioned. BUt when I spoke of my neurologist, Dr. Decker, he smiled broadly and said, oh, that's good, he must have gotten his license back...Thankfully, I was not in a fog-zone like I am alot of times, and I let out a huge guffaw--and the man and I had a hearty laugh!Just thought I'd share that...love to all, kate> I guess I picked up some kind of "bug" or something.
