Hope everyone had a lovely week-end...Beginning Sat., I began having some edema/swelling in my right ankle. Yesterday it was more swollen, and by last night I was having pain from behind my right knee, with a burning type pain down the back of my leg into my ankle, which is more swollen even today...I imagine this is NOT MS...but sure as heck not sure what it could be. I really didn't do 'alot' over the wk.end. We did have a hike yesterday, and I knew it was bugging me a bit then. Any thoughts or ideas what the source of this might be? It is only on one side. Thanks for any input. blessings all~kate Please visit: http://www.bicycleman.com awesome guy, fantastic site. All types of bicyles, many recumbents; perfect for an MS Bike Tour! Guest guest
It sounds as if you are fairly active right now and it may be a combination of everything MS and your hormones, etc. The Dr. can't do anything for it except to put your legs up. So, relax tonight with your legs in the air! Ha..that sounded awful! Mindy -- In MSersLife , katelloydkidz@... wrote: > > Really, Mindy? Well, I am seeing my new primary about it this afternoon...Should I call my neuro too? The funny thing is, it is my left side that is my weak side--the edema--is pitting edema and is on my left ankle. It slowly began on Friday sometime I think and I noticed it Sat. Yesterday it was quite worse, and last night--the swelling was from my foot, ankle up to my calf. I have been working hard on the treadmill, trying to get ready for the local MS Walk next wk-end at Bear Mountaing State Park in NY. There is a 3 mile and 5 mile walk. I was planning on doing just the 3 mile walk, but at this rate, I can barely walk at all! I'm going to check the MS site and see if I can read anything on this..thanks for the feedback. blessings, kate ps. I actually thought the swelling was a result of taking progesterone that I was just put on for peri-menopause.... > > > > Hey Kate, > > > > This can actually be a part of MS and you need to keep an eye on > > it > > daily. > > > > What happens is MS slowly atrophy's your muscles and we need our > > muscles to circulate our blood and fluids properly. so if your > > leg > > muscles have been weakening, this could very well be a side effect. > > > > I learned this from both my Dr. and it was in an ms society > > newsletter once. Guest guest
Hiya Mindy...and group..well...after hours of waiting and an ultrasound, the jury is in--it is phlebitis. My primary thought it was DVT-deep vein thrombosis and was going to admit me to the hosp., but the clot is in a superficial vein...Man, does it ever hurt! Went right to bed yesterday and didn't get up. This am--it looked much less swollen, but after just making breakfast for 2 kids it is huge again. I still have to make breakfast for 2 more kids...Then the washing machine repairman is coming--so I've got to stay up for sometime now. She prescribed non-steroidal anti-inflammatories and yes, feet up! blessings ,kate> It sounds as if you are fairly active right now and it may be a > combination of everything MS and your hormones, etc. The Dr. > can't > do anything for it except to put your legs up.
