Guest guest
The Acute Care Perspectives Journal (APTA) Vol 15, Number 1 Spring 2006 has a great article / competency for Lab Values. It states a " therapeutic range is 2-3 depending on clinical situation. " " INR > 3.5, patient may have increased risk for bleeding, acitivity modification may be appropriate " . " patients with significantly elevated levels (INR>5) may be on bed rest due to risk of bleeding. Important to check with physician for activity guidelines. " Hope this help. I plan to use the journal as a competency for my department. It is the best concise information of lab value and implications for P.T. that I have seen. Susie Pomerenke P.T. Asst Director of Acute Therapies St. 's Hospital, Springfield, MO INR levels and therapy Hi all, Our facility has a protocol to 'hold' all therapy if the pt's INR is above 4. This really seems to impact alot of our total joint patients. Does anyone know of research that would indicate if and when therapy should be held with increased INR levels. Thank you for any input you may have. Shari France,PT Rehab Director Carolton Rehab Fairfield,Ct 06824 Please identify yourself, your discipline and your location in all messages to PTManager.
