Guest guest
This seems to conflict with what Fred has told me about my Prodidgy meter. He told me there is no accessible software, and that the strips were around $42 per bottle. Anyone know what the real deal is? Dave new talking meter! Not sure if anyone posted this here I am on nomail right now. Any questions/comments please reach me at jdaubenm@... first here is a comment from a friend of mine then the information on how to get the meter: *begin quote* Talked to the person at the company and it is true. The meter is $30.99. The strips are $18.99. If you buy 5 boxes they will give you the meter for free. It uses double A batteries and comes with a carry case. For $10.00 you can buy a cable to plug into your computer so that you can download the results from the memory onto your computer. The software is free. The software has been tested with Window Eyes and works good from what I understand. * end quote * information on how to get the meter... Guest guest
I called the 800 number listed in the article and ordered one of these meters yesterday. By ordering 5 packages of 50 strips at $18.95 per package I got the meter for free, just as the article states. I have heard that this meter doesn't have accessible documentation and that sighted assistance is required to set it up. Once I have the meter in hand I will see how blind friendly it really is. I paid extra for overnight delivery because I am about to take a road trip and my old accu-check is just too bulky to cart around. Guest guest
Hi All, This is Danny. I've been off the list for a while, and it is good to be back. I bought the Prodigey yesterday also. I bought the kit which includes the meter, 50 strips, a lance, lancettes, and alcohol pads for about $70. I did not want to buy 5 boxes of strips to get the meter free, because I wanted to see how the meter performs first. Hopefully I'll get it sometime next week. I'm currently using the One Touch profile along with the sure drop. Guest guest
The prodigy is not friendly on everything. You will needed a sighted person to set the code each time you start a new bottle of strips. Also the time does not talk. I am still happy with it and hope that they will work on getting these other things accessible for us. Dee Re: new talking meter!
