Guest guest
Well I just got the call and my leave was denied and if I dont return to work with a doctors note and with no restrictions, I will be terminated. I told her fine, fire me because I am not quitting, I am following my doctors orders to the letter so I can get better to come back to work. And if they fire me, I will pursue other actions legally. Guest guest
Kate, I nowhere near have enough "credits" for SSDI, but I DO get, and qualify for, SSI. You probably do too, but methinks your hubby makes too much for it to be any good to you, they subtract according to your family income. Robbin and I are both on it. And you gotta know HE doesn't have any work credits!!! Hugs Akiba -- Re: My Work Called! That's the way, Mickie~ You go girl! They will have the biggest, messiest lawsuit on their hands if they screw this up! They CANNOT fire you--or if they do, it is considered discrimination. Back in 1988 I was fired when I was 6 mos. pregnant with my first child. My brother, who is a lawyer, drew up the paperwork for me, and through the Office of Human Rights, settled out of court. Looking back, I wish I had taken them to court, as the out of court settlement was for a mere $5000...Peanuts really--I was making $26k at the time; which for then, and for a non-college grad--fairly good dough... I've only done part-time work since 2003; hence why I've heard I'm not eligible to apply for disability...Although that Social Security-personalized booklet that comes once a yr, says that I am. Keep us posted on this, Mickie...I'd get a contact at Office of Human Rights, and with someone from Americans with Disabilities Act...ADA--I think they must have an office ? blessings and hugs to all~kate> Well I just got the call and my leave was denied and if I dont > return to> work with a doctors note and with no restrictions, I will be > terminated.I told her fine, fire me because I am not quitting, I > am following my> doctors orders to the letter so I can get better to come back to work.> And if they fire me, I will pursue other actions legally.> Please visit: http://www.bicycleman.com awesome guy, fantastic site. Guest guest
I have both SSDI and SSI; depends on the federal dollars that your state puts into the SSI whether in your state/county the SSI is federally or state funded or both. And, gang, I am not exactly FLUSH financially, but the cost of living in this state is exorbitant, so eligibility varies widely from state to state, county to county. ANY dollars you EVER put or had taken from your check and deposited in Social Security are there for you if you are disabled or retire (same amount, either way),IF you apply for it immediately upon be coming disabled! Blah, blah! Love, n Rojas5915@... Re: My Work Called! That's the way, Mickie~ You go girl! They will have the biggest, messiest lawsuit on their hands if they screw this up! Guest guest
Yo Akiba~Hub makes about 55k--however, there are 6 of us relying on that income. As far as NY standards, it is kinda low income; as we are in Westchester County--supposedly the richest county in NY ;ha! but not us! My oldest is off at college, so I don't think she 'counts' as far as a dependent anymore, mostly because she is almost 19. Do they or don't they, take into account how many kids one has? Thanks for the info ,and any additional light you can shed on this matter..love ya, kate> Kate, I nowhere near have enough "credits" for SSDI, but I DO > get, and> qualify for, SSI. Guest guest
They DO take into account the amount of people living in the home full time and they also take into account the income of the entire house...so if you had a roomie, not only would whatever "rent" he paid to you be counted, but HIS income as well, but he'd also be counted as a warm body so it would be mitigated to some degree... Sure, love, anything I can do to help, or questions I can answer, I'm there!! Hugs Akiba -- Re: My Work Called! Yo Akiba~Hub makes about 55k--however, there are 6 of us relying on that income.
