Guest guest
Hi Melisa, The end of the strip with the slot goes into the meter the indented side up, the smooth side down. The meter has a port much like an earphone slot on the side for the cable. Lay the meter on a table with the slanted end to the left, the port for the cable should be on the side next to you. You should be able to feel it. I think my cable is a seriel not USB. Danny Two questions about the Prodigy > Just got the Prodigy meter and have two questions. Guest guest
--- so, no earphone jack on this machine? Also was I supposed to get the cable with the meter that hooks up to the computer? Also, I have heard it doesn't work well with jfw, but could I hook it up to my work computer and use the Braille focus to review readings? Guest guest
The end of ths trip with the indent goes in-the indent goes up. When you put it in correctly, it immediately plays music. If it does play, then turn it over. By the way, that alos turns on the machine, so you do not need to turn it on or off. I don't know where the cable goes, however. Two questions about the Prodigy Just got the Prodigy meter and have two questions. First which end of strip goes in the meter? Also, where does the usb cable plug into on the meter? Thanks. Guest guest
No, you have to order the cable separetly. Re: Two questions about the Prodigy --- so, no earphone jack on this machine? Guest guest
There is no earphone jack on the meter, and the cable does not come with the machine. JFW does not work very well with the software. You can get the software and cable at the following web site along with contact information. For the software wack enter on the Data Management link. http://www.diagnosticdevicesinc.com/home.cfm Danny Two questions about the Prodigy >> >> >> > Just got the Prodigy meter and have two questions. Guest guest
To bad it doesn't have an earphone jack. I indenede to use it at work. Anyway, it looks like it takes two aa batteries. Am I right about that? Also, thereis a button inside the battery compartment that changes some type of settings. Is that anything I'll need? Guest guest
The buttons inside the battery compartment are the buttons to set the time and date-along with a mode key, but I don't know shich one is which. This is a negative thing about this machine-you need a sighted person to do that. Re: Re: Two questions about the Prodigy To bad it doesn't have an earphone jack. I indenede to use it at work. Guest guest
, Well, you may have Woolfisms but I find that I am without excuses. (sad face) My children just look at me and smile. I think this may be a bad sign. (LOL) The reason I pointed this out was when I read the message JAWS did its usual job of pronunciation and " shich " is not exactly what I thought you said. Guest guest
, The meter to purchase is either the Prodigy or to wait until the other new one comes out as either of these 2 meters are the newer technology. If you are interested in a Prodigy, you can e-mail: plawolf@earthlink and we can send you one, although I don't yet know what thshipping would cost. Re: Two questions about the Prodigy Hi Where do you purchase the accucheck meter? Can the manufacturer send it to any country, because I live in South africa? Guest guest
If you want the Prodigy, we can ship it from California. It either $85 American for ammeter, control solution, lancing device, and a bottle of stirips or $100 for 5 bottles of strips and a free meter-plus shipping. I really like the Prodigy, but I understand the new Sensocard-whenever it will come out-is more accessibleAS a private vendor, we can send Braille instructions as well as put a Braille label on each bottle of strips so you know the code number. Guest guest
Hi Petricia I do not know anyone who is blind and has diabetes in England. Is there an blind diabetic list that one can subscribe to in england or a producer in england that has a website that sells the metre? I heard that England started there own FTP site is that true and if so do you have an website address, because they will maybe have an diabetic mainling list. Thanks for all the information. Guest guest
, I believe that was referring to me being the only diabetic on this list who comes from England. Regarding your two questions that you were asking: Firstly, I am not sure what the initials FTC stand for, but if it is referring to a diabetic Email group in England, to my knowledge, this is the only Email group of its kind for the blind. As to your other question about the Prodigy meter, it is not available over here. However, the only blood testing meter for blind diabetics that is available in England, is the Sensocard Plus meter. This meter is still undergoing valuation with the FDA in the States. As and when it will be going on the American market, I am unable to answer that question! Not knowing which part of the world you come from, the only thing I can suggest you can do is,send an Email to Bill Cunningham. Although he is not directly marketing the Sensocard plus Meter any more. However, he still should be able to help you, or direct you to the new company who are now dealing with the marketing of the Sensocard Plus. His Email details are: bcdx@... I hope this has been some help to you. If you would like to contact me off list, to obtain more information, please feel free to do so. My Email address is: adrian5@...
