Guest guest
Stan, Check out the APTA's website. It has a good -short explaination of the requirements as related to STARK II. You will find your answer there--it specificallly spells out the physician relationship that is required. E-mail me personally if you have further questions. I just got back from Nashville an hour ago were we were discussing POPTS issues. All those that live in Tennessee need to get involved today, this bill is moving quickly. Guest guest
Hello, Just a quick question to help me clarify. The reference you cited is a 20 page document. I am wondering if you might be a little more specific as to the region of the document which you are refering. Thanks! Guest guest
Don, There is a " CMS Issues Stark II Final Regulations " that is 6 pages long that helps clarify some of the muddy water. If you have in depth questions I would contact Elliot at APTA. One more word regarding our website. Be sure you know what is on the site because those that oppose us have access and have it memorized. Newton, PT, DPT, OCS, CWS

Guest guest
I think docs can own off site clinics but can't refer medicare/medicaid clients, only private insurance. Guest guest
Exactly. More precisely they may see those patients incident to their care. No referral involved. referral for profit > >Is there any circumstance where a physician can own, or part own, a therapy >clinic, other than in his or her office? > > >Stan Headrick, PT >Nashville, TN > > >--------------------------------- >Brings words and photos together (easily) with > PhotoMail - it's free and works with Yahoo! Guest guest
Just to confirm what I'm seeing, physician can be owners or part owner of off site therapy clinics as long as they don't profit from Medicare referrals. Is that right? Doug Sparks wrote: Exactly. More precisely they may see those patients incident to their care. Guest guest
There can be no referral or exchange of money ever. They provide the care under their own provider number, bill and collect it just as they would an office visit. They may hire a staff or contract the work to be done. referral for profit > >Is there any circumstance where a physician can own, or part own, a therapy >clinic, other than in his or her office? > > >Stan Headrick, PT >Nashville, TN > > >--------------------------------- >Brings words and photos together (easily) with > PhotoMail - it's free and works with Yahoo!
