Guest guest
Harry, Sadly the belief that " it can't happen to me " is all to common. As most of us know, (too late) the abuse we inflict upon our bodies will (eventually) catch up with us and, most unfortunately, the payback is absolutely grim... When I read this little thing I thought it was all too typical and that it did document what many have tried to get across on this list.. Cy, the Ancient Okie... Guest guest
Agreed. But we still don't know whether she is minding her diabetes better! Mike > Thanks Cy, this one is a keeper. > > > > > >
Guest guest
Yes, deniel is a wonderous thing (noiice I did not say " wonderful " thing) I was an R.N. with diabetes and never believed I would go blind-I was sure I would just have a heart attack and be gone! (That happened later, but I did go blind at age 34). Re: FW: [b H F L] Picture this (features Leonie ) Thanks Cy, this one is a keeper. Guest guest
HEy folks, My cousin, Dianna, has just been diagnosed as a Diabetic. She is underway and searching the supermarket reading ingredients for total carbs. She now understands the 2 hour post meal readings and their importance but she is having trouble getting blood in the morning. Any suggestions? I have stronglyh recommended this list for her. She is an excellent cook and has made a number of dishes with Splenda for Crystal. Cy, the Ancient Okie... Re: FW: [b H F L] Picture this (features Leonie ) Thanks Cy, this one is a keeper. Guest guest
We will look forward to helping her live a complication-free diabetic life. We are only here to advise. Many receive advice. Only the wise profit from it. Re: FW: [b H F L] Picture this (features Leonie > ) > > Thanks Cy, this one is a keeper. > > > > > >
Guest guest
She should run her fingers under warm water (and then dry them) before doing a test. Sometimes wrapping up a finer with a rubber band will help too. Is he visually impaired? Re: FW: [b H F L] Picture this (features Leonie ) Thanks Cy, this one is a keeper. Guest guest
She could try putting her hands under warm water for a couple of minutes. That might help a lot. Vicki " Do not love the world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but they are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. Guest guest
Hi cy: I am better able to get blood if my fingers are warm. If they are the least bit cool I have an awful time getting that blood to bead up. Becky and Cassidy, Pilot Dog, Poodle maddpoodle27@... Guest guest
Cy: Take a look at http://www.nfb.org/diabetes/diabetesbook.htm There, you'll find an article on finger-sticking techniques. I highly endorse the two-minutes-under-warm-water mantra and some have done well with the rubber band temporary tourniquet.
