Guest guest
If transfer training was part of gait training, we included the time as gait training. If it was stand alone with a major goal for transfer, we use ther act. Not sure if that is right.. just how we did it when I worked with rehab companies. Simple minds prefer uncomplicated solutions. Steve Passmore spass@... Transfer training I know this seems like a basic question but I would like to know what cpt code people use for skilled transfer training ( bed to chair). When looking at the 2006 coding and payment guide for PT it seems like 97535 should be used. This code however also involves meal prep, other ADLs and instructions in the use of adaptive equipment. There is some question that perhaps 97530,( therapeutic activities) should be used and others say they have used gait training 97116. Please give me some feedback. Thanks, W. Guest guest
97116, gait training is considered a component of 97530, therepeutic activities, which is where my staff bills transfer training and bed mobility. While the 97535, self care management training, reimburses at a higher rate ($.72/unit in our area), be careful not to charge both 97535 and97530 on the same day or you will be denied. Again, 97535 is considered a component of 97530. Our OTs tend to use 97535 and PTs more the 97530. Guest guest
I would use 97530 since it is a dynamic, functional activity.
