HI :

I can see where this meter might be al right for traveling purposes, but I

don't think that I would feel as much in control with counting all of those

beeps.

I use to own an audochron, which could tell you the time by just touching

it. When you touched it it would chime with a low pitch for the hour, then

pause briefly and then the time with a high pitch chime for the minutes in

units of ten, then a low pitch chime for the remaining minutes. The audo

chron did not give time in A M or PM, and you had to rely upon your senses

to tell if it was day or night. It only gave time in a twelve hour cycle.

I liked to hear it sound its beautiful chimes telling the time.

Unfortunately, a visitor dropped it and broke it and it no longer works. I

believe telling time by some beeps would be just as easy to do. For

instance the audochron could tell you it was 10:23 by doing a normal low

pitch chime ten times, then pause(this tells you this is the hour of ten),

next it would do a high pitch chime two times to tell you that twenty

minutes has passed, then it would chime the low pitch three times to say to

add the three to the twenty minutes and you have 23 minutes passed since the

hour of 10. I think a series of dots and dashes could do a similar

representation, as represented by a long beep for a dash of ten and a short

beep for the unit of 1. For instance if you had a bs of 125, you would get

twelve long beeps or dashes for 10*12=120, then five short beeps for dots of

1 unit each. I don't believe it would take much time to figure out how to

count the bs reading.

Hi Harry:

While it wouldn't take much time to figure out the series of beeps, I can

see where this meter might not be a good choice for some folks.

I was able to do it the first time. I thought that it might be confusing,

but it is easier than it sounds! Like I said, I don't think that this will

replace any of the others, but if you can handle it, traveling and so on,

would be much easier! The price is right too!

When I bought my first set of strips, the metre came with them. A drum holds

17 strips, I ordered four drums.

Hi :

Do you just replace the drum whenever you have used up all of the strips

then? Or do you refill it with more strips?

Hi Becky!

When the strips run out, you just replace the drum. The drum I am calling

it, because I can't think of another name. It looks like a little spool of

thread. Each spool, holds 17 strips.

I think the AccuChek literature calls it a drum also.

Wonder how useable the similar meter from Bayer is?

HI :

I think it is called a drum, actually, from commercials that I've seen for

other meters that use drums.

I can see where this meter would make a good travel meter.

Not to be nosy, but how much does a drum cost? If my memory serves me

correctly you said they will give you a free meter if you buy the drum.

Hi Becky,

yes that's right, when I bought a supply of strips, which was four drums,

they gave me the metre. Again, I repeat, I don't think that this metre

replaces, any of the others, but it is another option. I just came back
