Guest guest
Hello all, there has been some discussion amongst our therapists regarding use of the 24 hour ionto pads......the concern is on the billing side as the cpt specifies it as an attended modality yet in reality this treatment is unattended.....would unattended estim be an option? any thoughts out there? Guest guest
We spend a minimum of 10- 15 minutes each session , particularly the first, with hands on placement, Q/A ect. We use the ionto code (1) as this meets the requirements. Ron Barbato P.T. Corporate Director , Rehabilitation Ephraim McDowell Health Voice (859 )239-1515 Fax (859 )936-7249 rbarbato@... Guest guest
There is a specific CPT code for Ionto so you should not use unattended Estim. Ionto is not covered by MC anymore and so we do not receive much reimbursement for it anymore in Texas. We charge the pt for the patch and they pick up their medication from the pharmacist. I would be careful charging estim for ionto. Marsha Rutland, PT, MEd, OCS, CSCS Assistant Professor, Physical Therapy Dept.
