Guest guest
Hi, Rose Marie, this is Debbie Reynolds. When my boy was on the diet, if his ketones got above 80, he'd have more seizures. Took a while to figure this out..... we did go through a period of high ketones with a " panting exhale " which sounds like a short sigh, a first sign of acidosis, which can go hand in hand with too-high ketones. Also present are flushed cheeks, and sometimes lethargy. Most docs know nothing of ketosis and acidosis, only see them in diabetics in crisis, and so think they are bad conditions. If she got ketotic enough to vomit, you'd have a real problem.......but there are levels before that which are a concern, but which a lot of teams aren't well versed on..........SIGH! You've not been on the diet long, right? (sometimes I have trouble remembering who's who.......!) Are they calculating all your menus, or do you have a way to lower the ratio yourself? One thing I see very often with teams is that they make change after change, way too fast, not letting the body adjust. Hang in there, we'll get you through this. Keep careful data, and soon you'll have a feel for the " patterns " and know in your gut, what needs to be changed, and when. Love, Deb R
