DeEtte--

I have read warnings about the potential for Melatonin to worsen seizures,

but at the advice of three neuros to try it we did. Please keep in mind

that they know our daughter and her seizure patterns. For us melatonin has

been such a godsend--our only regret being that we didn't try it several

years ago. Not only did it assist with sleep issues, but it cut the

volatile " twilight " time when 's most susceptible to seizures from 3

hours down to about 20 min. However, Jen's point illustrates well how every

kid is soooo different!

Awhile back we had discussed keto-friendly sources of Melatonin and now I

don't remember if I posted what we found--TwinLab's 2 mg controlled-release

tablets, available at the local nutrition center. I quarter 's

tablets, as she only needs .5mg. Our dietician checked out the carb content

with TwinLab and was satisfied (and she is a real stickler for hidden carbs,

so I trust her judgment on this one, even though she didn't give me the

exact numbers). This form is NOT chewable, but most are and are high in

dextrose or other sugars. You really have to read the labels on this one!

Sleep issues are so exhausting, and my heart goes out to families who must

deal with them. We've had our turn at it, and it gives me that much more

respect for parents who must deal with sleep issues on a continual basis.

There is a special place in Heaven for these folks!
