Hi

's dietitian advised me to give lemonade or orange juice if

her BSL dropped below 3.5. I have only had to do this a few times and that

was in the first couple of weeks. Since then, if she has been lower than

3.5 before a meal (usually breakfast) I have just rechecked her reading

after her meal and it has always been fine.

As far as the maximum BSL reading for effective seizure control, there was

considerable discussion here a month or two ago on that topic.

Jill,

Well it looks like I can leave that one be then...Where did you find that

out, one of our dieticians has told us in the past to give glucose if

's levels drop much below 4.0. I've only done that once, but when he

was way down to 2.4 early in October.

Does anyone in Australia know of a Dr (?) Spooner? I think she may be

from Adelaide, she is a senior paed neuro reg that has just arrived at our

hospital in Auckland. She replaces Dr Rakesh Patel, who recently left for

Sydney, a really nice guy if any of you should come across him.
