Guest guest
Hi ! Sounds like you have had some rough times lately. I'm so sorry to hear about your Christmas. This diet is very tough. Our Thanksgiving sounds like your Christmas. It will get better. I just wanted you to know that when we started the diet we had to drop the Lamictal b/c it has carbs in it. I don't know if the form you are taking does but you may want to look into it. Just remember, this diet takes alot of time patience and tweaking. As many of the folks on this list that have been around for awhile and are keto pros will tell you, it takes time. Anyways, goodluck and let us know if you need anything. from IN, mom to , 4 high restrictive Atkins diet, depakote, carnicine and seizure free
Guest guest
Hi You didn't say what her ketone levels were. If they are excessive she may be too ketotic and this may be contributing to her problems. What dose of lamictal was she on? Was it all dropped at once? It is possible that there were withdrawl seizures adding to the problems. It's good that she seems to have settled down now. You really need at least 3 months to give the diet a fair trial. When things are not going well it seems easier to give up on the diet, but it is really worth perservering. My daughter is the best she has been in 6 years! Guest guest
Definitely don't stop the diet on Monday!...... can't believe that doc would want you to go through all this just to stop so soon you haven't really given it a solid chance. Meds can be a really complicated situation on the diet..... seems there are several families here battling the same confusion right now. I don't know about that chewable..... must have some sort of carb/sweetener, which is why they wanted to switch it. What's your ratio? Patti, mom to Katera flying with not much of a net Hi: I'm a mother of a six year old little girl who just started the diet. We started on 12/10 and before the diet she was on Zonegran, Lamictal-Chewable Kepra. First night in hospital was awful, but then she started to fly! Dr. dropped her Zonegran under the thinking it was the right thing. All hell has broken loose, she was toxic on something. To regain control, we upped Zonegran, and dropped the Lamictal -fast. Hell continued for six days, threw Christmass, in that she was having drops/twitches/jerks, zoning in and out. Ended up giving her Atavan yesterday to stop things, and had a peacefull night, as far as we know. Today, life is better. She is still whiney (not normal behavior for her), and has only had a couple of twitches. She may have been toxic on Lamictal. The other thing we changed back was that in the hospital, the Dr's, put her on a nonchewable Lamictal. Under the theory that it can't get much worse, and with their permission we switched back to chewable. Anyway, we're out here in PA, flying and trying. Dr. wanted to drop the diet by Monday if nothing happened. Our feeling was give it three months. We'll see how tonight goes. You can reach me at LTS4307@...
