Guest guest
Hannah had low RBC count at one point last year, but when the next blood was drawn a few months later they were back up in the normal range. Doctors gave no reasons (ie- didnt know) why this might have happened, so we are still none the wiser. (Hannah's mum, Australia) ----- Original Message ----- From: Terry Krumrei The neurologist initially told me our wacky blood work was a result ofthe medication that we were on. We have now been off the medication fora month. Our blood is still messed up. When I asked about it he nowresponds that it is from the diet. If you all could verify this I canrelax a little. Nick's Red blood cell count is low and has been for afew of months. His hemoglobin, hematocrit, MCV and MCH are all high.

Guest guest
, No they are out of range. His RBC is 4.24 and normal is 4.4-5.7 (males), hemoglobin is in range high, hemaocrit is in range high, MCV is 104 , 61-99 is normal MCH is 36.2, normal is 28-32. They have raised continually since our dietitian took us off our normal supplements in August for 6 weeks(during my vow of compliance or get booted out) and put us on Bugs Bunny with iron. I have him back on his supplements but he has not returned to normal. I know that alot of these problems can stem from deficiency of B 12, folic acid, selenium and potassium. I assumed vthe labs would improve since we have added back in his supplements, but it doesn't seem to be working. 's extra chromosome causes his body to be flooded with extra SOD, which creates hydrogen peroxide in his body. He needs twice as many anti oxidants as a normal child. Unfortunately I let my Dr., dietitian and husband pressure me into doing something I was totally against. Hopefully we can get it straightened out soon. Sorry, I got a little carried away. Guest guest
I was told that Bugs Bunny vitamins are not good with this diet. Can someone explain? We are not using them but I have noticed that many are. What is a good vitamin for children on the KGD? Jenn Terry Krumrei wrote: , No they are out of range. Guest guest
Jenn, Here is a link of the vitamins Nick is on. He takes over 40 vitamins minerals and enzymes compared to the 19 in Bugs Bunny. We started him on this nutrient when he was 4 weeks old because of his Down Syndrome. It has rice flour in it so we had to figure it into the diet. It only has 2.5 carb cals a day in the daily supplement. Guest guest
Terry -- We're having labs done next week and have requested that they be forwarded to us immediately. I will check these when we get them. I don't believe any of these things have come back elevated before. I think a month off the meds is probably not enough time to notice a big difference.--D __________________________________________________

Guest guest
Terry -- Just got a copy of 's latest blood work, regarinding the things you mentioned: Red Blood Cells are normal Hemoglobin is high (14.9, 14.5 is top of the range) Hematocrit is normal MCV is high (92, 90 is top of the range) MCH is high (31.7, 31 is top of the range) They must not be too far out of whack, because the doc never mentioned this -- but that's why I always request the results for myself! As I posted earlier, cholesterol came back high, as did triclycerides (although she was not fasting). Glucose was a little low (64, with 65 the low end of the range). Creatinine was low. Bun/Creatine Ratio was high. Carbon dioxide was low, anion gap was high. Liver enzumes were elevated. Hope this helps.--D --- Terry Krumrei wrote: > Hi Everyone,. > This is pretty important to me if you all could look > back at your labs. > The neurologist initially told me our wacky blood > work was a result of > the medication that we were on.
