Hi Charlotte,

About the accupuncture...I've never heard of anyone saying they were made worse.

Besides, the needles are so whisker thin that you don't even know they are going

in. The worst that can happen is you might be out the

money. No sure why he is telling you you'll need pain meds...are you sure about

this practitioner?

Hi Tom and thanks for your speedy reply.

The only thing I now about this practitioner is that he is a gyn-

doctor and I trust him in his medical practice. But I dont think he

does acupuncture very often, he has not got that much experience in

acupuncture-treatment. But if something happens, I guess his medical

license will be withdrawn?

I don't know anything about vaginal acupuncture (I'd be scared, too!)

but PT with internal massage cured me of vulvar vestibulitis, so I'm

all for it! It does sound weird to me, though, that your gynecologist

would want to do this, instead of referring you to a physical therapy

specialist for women's issues. Is your gyn qualified in PT? or does

he just do it? Something to consider...

Hi Antonia,

did the local acupuncture help with your pain? How many times did you

do it? Did it temporarily worsen the vulvodynia? My doc says I should

do it 5-7 times, and if it doesnt give result thereafter, we should

quit doing it. He also says that it could make the pain worse for a

couple of days after having the acupuncture.
