Guest guest
We are using the psyllium husks powder. Had to get it at a health food store in order to find some that didn't have added fillers like maltodextrin. I give him 1/4 tsp twice a day mixed into his drink and that has really helped him out. It doesn't have any taste, just a thick texture. Its also supposed to be nonhabit forming and not cause any problems. Using MOM on a continual basis can strip out a bodies vitamins and minerals I have read. Guest guest
Increasing magnesium intake reduces constipation. We have magnesium added to Hannah's liquid calcium preparation (she is tube fed), and she has this in three daose a day, which seems better than one dose at bed time. BM's are not as explosive and painful with 3 smaller doses. (Hannah's mum, Australia) More Questions and Thanks I wanted to thank everyone for their replies to my questions last week. Guest guest
Mike is on magnesium - three times a day with his calcium too - but it hasnt done much for him if anything. I am not sure what the appropriate dose is for him but I am pretty sure I am not giving him enough. We are using colace right now ( I hope it will be very short term) and it works wonderfully!
