Guest guest
The last two times he went though, he had blood in his stool. Should I take him to the dr and get him checked out? Any ideas of what might be going on? Kathy, This has happened to also, off and on. Our gastro. said that it's tiny tears, called fissures, from all the times she has had to endure the hard/large BM's. This might be what happened to lin too, but it's still worth having the doctor check him out, just incase. I hope this helps! Guest guest
If the stools are very hard it is probably just a bit of irritation as they pass thru. Mike had this a few times til we got his stools softer. If that isnt the case then I dont really have any other idea what it could be. Guest guest
Does this powder have to be calculated into the diet? I have Mike on colace right now and it seems to be working well but I dont want to keep using it indefinitely. We also use suppositories but I dont want to use them long term either. Glad to help. This list is just awesome! Where else can you find a whole bunch of keto experts in one place? (I am far from an expert yet but I am sure learning alot from all of you!) Guest guest
We use the Yerba Prima Pysllium Husks Powder. It says that one teaspoon contains 4.5 grams of carbs but its says on the jar , " The carbohydrate in this product is primarily non-digestible fiber, digestible carbohydrate is less than 1/2 gram per serving. " Since we give lin 1/2 a teaspoon, he is getting less than 1/4 gram per serving so we do not figure it in. I asked our dietician about it and she said that was fine. It is healthy and the body does not become dependent on it. Plus it has no taste so we mix it into his keto kooler drink and he doesn't notice it. -- Kathy (Mom to lin, 3 1/2 years old, generalized idiopathic epilepsy) From: heppner1@... We use Now brand whole Psyllium Husks a 'generic product' company out of Illinois...backed by Dr. Balch (prescription to nutritional healing fame) says on the label...Fiber is not digested, thus has no caloric effect. I like to add it to s cottage cheese and apple sauce...when I do it absorbs the liquid so I add more water and it bulks up the portion without effecting the taste!!!! Colace should NOT be used on a regular basis...causes damage to the liver, damage the bowels/intestinal wall and can cause dependency!! Other things to add are digestive enzymes, acidophilis, magnesium supplements cya Barb...bryans mom
