I worked with many TANF (welfare) clients, white, hispanic, black, Haitain, Jamaican, etc. who had mental illness and while there was almost always some form of additional assistance (usually mental health services) for my non-white clients, My white clients were often unable to get the help they so desparately needed. The standards were definitely different! It was a rude awakening for me.
