Guest guest
16/12/01 Hello I am new to this group? I have just joined and I don't understand my my message is not going through. Sorry if I keep sending the same message again and again, but I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Can someone tell/help me. I have been suffering from Vulva/Vagina itching for the last 6 years and have had several test done but they have always come back normal. I have seen a Dermatologist and a Gynaecologist and they have both done several tests and cannot find anything that is causing the itching on my Vulva. I have accessed some information on the website about a hospital in America, in Iowa City, New York. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Vulva/Vagina Disease Clinic. I have phoned them and I have explained my problem to the nurse and I have also sent her a Email explaining my problem from the beginning, we have been keeping in touch via Email quite a lot. She said she can help me but I need to come over, she cannot diagnose me over the phone or by Email. I have contacted quite a lot of Gynaecologists here in London via Email, they are all private and very expensive. I don't mind spending the money as long as I know someone can help me. Some of them have Emailed me back and said they cannot help me, because everything I have had done and used, they would have done the same think. I am not sure who to contact here in London anymore I am running out of Doctors. My only hope is America I think now. I am also on Homeopathic treatment for the last 4 years but that has not helped either. I have basically tried everything but no-one and nothing has helped. How can I get hold of people who are suffering from the same problem, Vulva/Vagina itching. I would like to get in touch with them. Do you know of anyone that can help me with my problem I am really suffering badly, for 6 years now. Does anyone think it is a Hormone Imbalance because the itching gets worse when I am about to start my period and when I am on my period and before I go to the toilet the itching gets very bad. Who can I see to check if it is a Hormone Imbalance or is there anyone else that can help me. I have asked the doctors here in London to test me for Lichen Simplex, Lichen Sclerosis Vulvar Vestibulitis Yeast Infections etc, but whenever I go to any doctor they just take one look at my Vulva and say no it's not anything like that your skin is perfectly normal. That is the problem my skin looks perfectly normal. I would like to be tested to be on the safe side. I would like to contact other people via E-mail with the same or similar problem I have. Please could you let me know of any Gynaecologist or Dermatologists that can help me, I am really desperate. I don't mind travelling anywhere in London. I would be grateful for your help. Hope to hear from you soon. Email Address: Anees.Ahmed@... Thank you Shehla Ahmed
Guest guest
Hi Shehla- I'm sorry about your vaginal pain, and also that you haven't been getting responses to your messages. You mention many things in your posting, so it's a bit difficult to know what to respond to. Reading through the postings on this website will give you ideas about the treatments other women are trying, as well as emotional support and encouragement. Suffering for a number of years and getting no meaningful results on tests from doctors is the same story of most of the women here. Seeing a good doctor is really the best place to start. I'm sorry that you haven't had any luck finding doctors in London. I live in the US, and I don't know who to recommend in London. On the website " vulvodynia.com " there is a listing of doctors who are knowledgable in vaginal pain. You mentioned that you had tried many treatments. What were they? Some of the treatments available include Diflucan, Elavil, low oxalate diets, biofeedback/physical therapy, hormone creams, birth control pills, boric acid suppositories, acidophilus supplements. Many of these are prescription medications. It seems the best method is to just keep trying different things. I've had a lot of relief and success with physical therapy (which I understand is hard to find outside the US). I wish you good luck with your efforts at healing. Guest guest
shela..not sure whether you received this in your personal e mail box...so heres a copy of what i wrote ! Shela, im sorry to hear about your itching problem....i happened to save an old e mail from a woman on our vulvular list regarding help for itching. (another idea is Aveeno oatmeal bathtub soaks, and just recently heard of Calamine Soaks in the bath) i use corn oil that has vitamin e on the outside of my vuvla just to relieve dryness and it has helped topically, in that way. so....here is a copy of the letter with the members idea...(im sure there are many women on the list with lots of other ideas for you! and i think at least one member who is also from the U.K). good luck!!! warmly, > does anyone have suggestions for symptomatic > relief of itching? I don't know if they have the ingredients in the UK, but here's the recipe for my super anti-itch goop: I mix one glob Benadryl anti-itch cream (available over-the-counter), one glob 1% hydrocortisone cream/ointment (also OTC), and one glob Terazol (prescription antifungal). I apply liberally as needed for extraordinary itching. Taking OTC oral Benadryl and an OTC anti-inflammatory (like ibuprofen) together at regular intervals also helped me through a recent severe itching episode.
