Guest guest
Hi, Welcome to the list. When I first started out with all of this I also had vulvar vestibulitis in addition to the vulvodynia. When I had a UTI in Sept of 1999 the dr put me on Ceftin and it cleared up the vulvar vestibulitis for me. Now my problem is just the vulvodynia. Every situation is different. Two of the girls on the list have had surgery for this and I know one other girl that just had some reconstruction to her vulvar area done but I don't know how it is working for her thus far. There was something on The Learning Channel the other day on a show called Love, Sex, and Birth where they talked briefly about vulvodynia. They said though that vulvodynia only affected the lower half of the vulvar area. The girl that they were talking to about this had the reconstructive surgery done. I am trying to see if I can get a copy of that transcript to read it thru. I hope that all works out for you sweetie. ===== Kristy http://www.geocities.com/sokokl/kristyspersonalpage.html Hoping to be a nurse soon but for now just a Medical Secretary who does a lot of learning from reading on the Net, books, my dr(s), as well as sharing my own personal experiences. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi, there. I've had very good success with Estrace (17-beta estradiol cream), and some other women on this list have had success with it, too. I've also had success with physical therapy to help me with the part of my pain that is neuropathic. Guest guest
Hi, I'm 19 and have had vvs for 5 yrs. I tried many things, including clobetosol (steriod) for 4 wks and it didn't do anything. Don't use steriods for more than 6 wks b/c they thin your skin and can make things worse. I had my second surgery (perinioplasty) 2 1/2 wks ago. The first one I had in July 2001 didn't work at all, so I tried it again. I believe this one will be a success, but will probably have to have a little more surgery this May to get it all. Surgery isn't as horrible as I thought it would be. After this surgery, I was back on my feet, in no pain (unless touched), and can function pretty much normal after only 11 days. Don't be scared of surgery if it does come to that. have you tried Estrace cream? That's a pretty standard treatment for vvs. Also Capsaicin treatments worked for me for an area above my urethra, it only took a wk of treatments, but it is very painful and you have to know how to do it right to minimize pain. Hope this helps. Keep the questions coming! Love and Prayers, Ruth > I'm 25 yrs old and I've had constant burning, stinging, irritation, > etc. in my vulvar area for the last 5 years. Guest guest
Ruth: My doctor has told me that since my case is severe, that surgery would be the best option for me. I'm scared and I have a couple questions...Do you know why the 1st surgery didn't work? Did the doctor use lasers? >>> nor_germ@... 01/07/02 06:31PM >>>
