Guest guest
Hey, Pam. DV is dysesthetic vulvodynia. It is the vulvar pain that is neuropathic pain (such as that caused by compression of the pudendal nerve, blood flow being cut off, etc.). I have both DV and VVS. When I was first diagnosed, it drove me crazy that I had *both* neuropathic pain *and* actual inflammation of the vestibule. Lucky me, I thought. LOL Until I was helped by the Estrace, it was hard for me to sort out which was which, because the VVS also caused 24/7 burning for me around the vagina, while the DV caused 24/7 burning everywhere else! Once the Estrace got rid of the vestibular burning, I was then able to much more clearly differentiate the types of burning I was having. Unfortunately, as my doctor told me back in August, DV (in my case) has been harder to get rid of than the VVS. The good news is that both are much better for me than they were during the summer. I've even managed to have pain-free intercourse several times this month; something which I thought I would *never* enjoy again. I'm still constantly amazed by that fact. You get so used to your body hurting all the time, that you kind of forget what feeling good is like. I'm sure you (and everyone else on this list) know what I mean. Take care.
