Guest guest
Yes I am alergic to cats. I had the allergie graft test just before my surgery and found I was allergic to cats and a cirtain type of common mold. I dont want to get rid of my cats, but it is something I am considering if I am getting sick this often. I have had sinus issues far longer then I have had cats however. We have only had cats for 6 years. Fortunatly I am told that Bunnys do not trigger the same allergic reaction that cats do:) Bunny _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com
Guest guest
That's such a shame, . I know you love those kitties and they are a comfort to you. When my husband developed adult-onset asthma, the asthma doctor just told him automatically to give away our cats, without even testing him for allergies. Well, to make a long story short, it turned out his asthma trigger was dairy and meat products. Once we eliminated those and became vegans, he never had another asthma attack (it's been 14 years). Dang doctors! You take care of yourself, and don't waste another brain cell feeling guilty about taking time off. YOU have to be your number one priority. I sure hope you catch a break in 2002 - you sure deserve one. Sending you some cyberhugs, Suzy --- Bunny wrote: > > Yes I am alergic to cats. Fortunatly I am told >that Bunnys do not trigger the same allergic reaction that cats do:) , My mom is allergic to cats but refuses to give them up. There are things you can do to help (though, to be honest, my mom hasn't done most of these and it's one of her minor allergies, so it's not as big a deal). One is to get allergy shots to desensitize you to them. Also, keeping them out of your bedroom is supposed to help. If your cats will let you, then washing them once a week is also supposed to be good. There's also some products you can use to clean your cat that remove the allergens: http://www.allerpet.com/ http://www.pet-expo.com/allergy.htm http://www.catbath.com/product.html http://bio-life.co.uk/ Also, there is a new treatment being developed (allergy shots, I think): http://www.lungusa.org/press/medical/medcat.html Here's some cat allergy tips pages that I found: http://allergies.about.com/cs/cats/ http://www.google.com/search?q=cache:Xcw1LTOO10A:www.carepets.org/catsub/cat_pdf\ /allergy.pdf+washing+cats+allergies & hl=en (this is the same as http://www.carepets.org/catsub/cat_pdf/allergy.pdf but not a PDF) Hope all this helps! At least, you might have a chance of keeping your cats if you try some of these suggestions. --'--,-{@ --,--'-{@ --'--,-{@ Rosen-Wakeford <http://www.lilitu.com> <http://www.lechatnoir.com> <http://www.sleeping-pictures.co.uk> " There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: music and cats. Guest guest
Hey, Thanks for the links, haddent thought of bathing them. I do keep them out of both my bedroom and my bathroom though. When I had my allergie testing done, they told me that I was not a canadate for the allergie shots thought because I was only allergic to two things. I hope you find something to try--it would be worth buying something to try to clean the cat before giving them up (though probably not to the cat!;->) Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
