Hi Pam,

ICL soaks are Ichthammol and Calamine Liniment mixed together in a bottle. Dripping bandages or wadding are soaked in the mixture until they are drippy in consistency, and it is applied directly lying down. I'm being treated by a Dermatologist and I think this is something they normally used for eczema and psoariasis. I'm being treated with it for Vulvar vestibulitis not eczema or psoriasis which I don't have - just in case there is any confusion.

It is a treatment I had never heard of for VV and I was very sceptical after having it for so long and nothing having any effect. I think it was because I was in pain they felt they had to do something to help me - thank goodness!

,

Thanks! Do you mix the Ichthammol & Calamine Liniment together

or do you buy it mixed. I have constant burning and am wonder-

ing if this is something I would benefit from trying?

Hugs, Pam

susie,

I suppose they do, though I think I am the first person they've tried it with, with this condition. Because half of the problem with Vulvar vestibulitis is the imflammation response I suppose they think if they can get rid of the inflammation my skin and nerve/pain responses will go back to normal. Some doctors believe it is chronic inflammation.

They have stipulated that I must keep using it regularly at home and it's on repeat prescription. I go through about 2 litres of it every week. I think it's still kind of at the experimental stage, as well as them hoping I will also respond long term to the Citalopram which I'm getting. I've got another appointment with them in 3 months.

so far I've noticed if I stop using it the pain comes back at the usual time, but then I use again and the pain goes away very quickly.
