Guest guest
I am glad you were able to find Trevayne so quickly. I hope he is ok. That is a scary feeling. It sounds like Chenoa has great instincts and is a big helper to you. ===== Ginger, wife to Jeff 14 ADD 9 Autistic 8 NT __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I have a wanderer too, and we have already had one visit from CPS because of it; not fun. While we don't have to worry about him freezing to death here in SW Florida, we live about a block away from a major highway, and Nicky has been tackled within 10 feet of it. And yes, he moves VERY fast for a 2 yo. When Nicky gets as far as the door, you can usually hear someone yelling " Houdini Alert! " (because he is such a good escape artist). We still haven't figured out some of his escapes, and like any good magician, he's not giving up his secrets. good luck with yours! Guest guest
Kep is a runner as well, so I know the fear and the frustration. I'm glad that he was ok (if a bit cold) and that Chenoa was such a big help to you. It has been a long time since Kep has done any running, but your post reminded me that I cannot get lax in my guard duty. Thanks for the reminder. Guest guest
I'm glad they were both okay except for almost being frozen! Yikes. Well, will often do something for when she asks him to and ignore and I. Sibling love, I guess. Mimi --- wrote: > I was telling today how I thought that I has > Trevayne's wandering under control. Guest guest
>>> A moment after that Chenoa comes running back in saying that Trevayne had run down the hill to Sandy's house (neighbor). This child is fast. It amazes me how fast this boy can move (when he wants to). You know what I mean if you have a wanderer.<<< Oh boy, do I ever. >>>>BTW he wasn't gon long. Guest guest
It is frightening when they leave like that. It makes me wonder what can he possibly be thinking???? CHRIS I'M THANKFUL FOR LAUGHTER, JOY AND THE HIGH SPIRITED GLEE THAT FILLS MY HEART TO OVERFLOWING (SIGH). -EEYORE Re: LONG Boysicle I am glad you found him so quickly. Good Job Chenoa!! Ebony got out on Xmas day while dh was taking wrapping and boxes out to the garage. It was very very cold and she was in a diaper and shirt!! I was frantic and looking all over for her...we even called the police. Luckily we found her....in the van. I didn't know she even knew how to open the van doors, but that is where she was. Luckily for her or she would have been one very very cold little girl. So I know how absolutely scary it is and I'm so glad he was found quickly!! You know what I mean if you have a wanderer.<<< How well I do. Mikey is fast. And sneaky. >>>>I worry about him leaving and freezing to death. What if I wasn't constantly watching for him????<<<< Oh I know. Today at 4pm I went into the bedroom and lay down with Gabe to nurse him asleep for a nap. AN HOUR LATER I WOKE UP!!!!! Terror. Sheer terror. We do have a doorknob cover which Mikey does not appear to be able to open, and I keep the door locked as well. But...it only takes once. When he gets out the front door he almost always heads around to the back of the building where there is a 70 foot deep pond/drainage ditch. These things are everywhere here because where we live should be a swamp. Oh, gosh, it's the boys' bedtime. Well I'm glad you're all OK!!! Bye! -Sara. Guest guest
> I was telling today how I thought that I has Trevayne's wandering under control. I was feeling quite smug and well positive about his dx and future. > Uh-oh. , surely you have learned that you must NEVER boast about your child or they will promptly prove you wrong. This is a rule to which there are NO exceptions! I can guess what's coming... > Early this evening we let the dog out on his chain. a few minutes later Chenoa comes running in saying that Toby has broken the chain and run off (he is 1/2 rotti so he is very strong, gentle but strong). I go looking for his leash, which is never where it should be. I looked for Trevayne so I knew what he was up to before I left to go get the dog. And to inform DH to get his A$$ out of bed and watch the little ones. No Trevayne. Nowhere. Uh-huh. He heard you bragging about how his wandering was under control and he thought, in his evil little mind, " My mother is growing complacent. I have been lazy! I must keep her on her toes! " and off he went! It was inevitable, you know. A moment after that Chenoa comes running back in saying that Trevayne had run down the hill to Sandy's house (neighbor). This child is fast. It amazes me how fast this boy can move (when he wants to). You know what I mean if you have a wanderer. So out I go with Chenoa hot on my tail. There is Sully batting at a tree with the pinata stick oblivious to the world or at least this one. I See he has no jacket on just mittens (what was up with that I have no idea). To protect his hands from getting blisters from the pinata stick naturally. He is chasing these dogs around like this with that freaky laugh he has when he is in his own world. What is it with that laugh anyway??? That laugh, which I know well, is the laugh of the pure at heart who are unworried by the concerns of this world. I get the Toby on the leash. Chenoa runs to Trevayne and how I don't know got him to pay attention to her. She takes his hand and brings him to me. All the whilke reprimanding him profusely for leaving the house dressed inappropriately and with out permission! Sully is still wacking at the Tree. " Get in the house!!! " I yell! As id that will break into his world. Whack Whack! " Get in the house Sully you have no jacket!! " Chenoa says to him in her motherly tone. He stops, turns and heads for the house. Mom's obviously not the one in charge her I think, looking at my 5 yo. No, Chenoa is, but you make a great second in command, I am sure. Now for Trevayne he is Shivering violently (it was 20 F if that at the time). Lips a little purple as are his hands. Finally he says " My feet wet. " > Poor baby! And how on earth did that happen? > I get him in the house get his wet socks off. THe kid is a boysicle! , I know this was terrible when it was going on but thank goodness it is hilarious afterwards and you will have your sufferings held up to you as a funny story for years to come. And, oddly enough, that is a very good thing! Salli
