Depends on where you are. In OK (which is not

technically south, but close enough--we DO have

rednecks) y'all can be singular or plural. We don't

use y'uns.

I was born in NJ but my mom and all of my aunts and uncles were born and

raised in Georgia. We spent half the year here in NJ and the summers on my

grandfather's farm. Many a time over the years when I was stuck up north

here I would call information in Georgia and ask for a phone number just to

talk to one of those friendly, angel voiced operators. As a kid it was they

only way to cure my homesickness for that southern drawl I love so much. The

call was free and it always made me feel a little bit better and closer to

loved ones.

I still miss the south.

Same here in TN, which is southern. And, during all my time living south of

the Mason-Dixon, never have seriously heard anyone use any form other than

" y'all " . Now, I did have a friend from the CT-DE area who even WROTE " youse

guys " !

I had to learn the lingo when I moved from Yankeeland (Long Island, NY) to

good ole G'eorgia. the plural of " y'all " is........... are ya ready?

" ........All Y'all...... "

All Y'all come back now.. Ya hear !
