Guest guest
Hi Kay, I'm glad you're back. I've been thinking about you. I have NO IDEA why you had that reaction. I did'nt think topical estrace got into your blood stream. Is it possible that the dizziness and night sweat is the result of the virus? I have had a virus for a couple of days and it caused that sort of symptom. Talk to you later. > > Message: 12 > Date: Mon, 26 Nov 2001 20:44:09 -0500 > > Subject: Dee/17 Beta Estradiol Cream > > Sorry I've been out of the loop for some time. Guest guest
Kay, Glad to hear from you. I don't know what to tell you about the dizzyness. Probably a side effect of the estrogen in some way. But I think the night sweats were withdrawal from the estrogen. 17b estradiol does not stay in the system very long. Only hours. That is why many women take it twice per day. This would not be a problem with the patch since the dose stays pretty constant. You might want to replace the patch more often than the manufacturer recommends as Dr. Vliet recommends. I think the patch is worth a try. You can always remove it if you start having the dizzyness problem. It will leave your system in a few hours. About the absorption. Personally I think it is absorbed very well. Dr. Vliet says that it is absorbed vaginally more readily the worse shape your tissues are in. But think about it the patch relies totally on absorption through the skin. It freaks me out that I am getting a medicine from a little patch on my butt! Just start with the lowest dose estrogen patch until you see how you are going to do. I know a lady who tried HRT (premarin I think) and had horrible headaches and just gave up. She has lupus. You mentioned autoimmume problems maybe this makes you particularly sensitive to hormones. It may not mean you don't need them just that you have to add them very gradually. I had the side effect of increased irritable vaginal discharge with the estrogen patch (and vagifem) until I added testosterone (by mouth). Now this seems to have cleared up. Maybe you need to add testosterone at the same time, but with your sensitivity this may be a very tricky thing to do to get the right dose. Again great to hear from you. Good luck. Guest guest
Kay, I was just putting my new climara patch prescription away and took a look at the side effects. The first thing on the list is dizziness! Now I remember I had a few days where my heart raced when I started using the patch. It did go away. I haven't had it since. Marilyn A.
