Guest guest
Sounds like we are all in the same boat! I just had a breast biopsy, and after taking 2 Tyelnol w/Codeine, I got paranoid, and backed off the pain meds! My butt is just feeling a little bit better, and I am absolutely PARANOID about causing constipation. I eat tons of fiber, but know from experience that these drugs can constipate you no matter *what* you eat. Isn't this pathetic, that we avoid pain meds because we fear the consequences to our butts!? , I don't know what class of drugs Demerol is derived from, but if it is an opiate, it will definitely cause constipation. It is the opiates in Tylenol w/Codeine, Vicodin, etc. that cause the constipation. In fact, old-fashioned diarrhea meds used to have opiates in them. So if you can find out if Demerol is an opiate (call your doctor, maybe?), then you can answer that question. Good luck! We understand where you're coming from! Guest guest
Actually my butt is okay despite being located mere inches from the " crotch from hell " . I have decided to take as many opiates and narcotics as it takes to get me through this flareup, which has been going for three weeks now. I'm about at the end of my rope. I wish my husband would come home, he had an overnight trip last night and he still isn't back and I need some support and encouragement. I have taken 5 50 mg Demerols today. I took 3 last night. They don't seem to last very long. Well, I guess I'll go. Maybe I can get my daughter to give me a backrub. > > > > Sounds like we are all in the same boat! Guest guest
I understand, . If you're in that much pain, take the narcotics and side effects be damned. Better a constipated butt than constant pain. Feel better soon... Love, Suzy --- Mace wrote: > > > Actually my butt is okay despite being located mere > inches from the " crotch > from hell " . Guest guest
Being constipated always brings on a bad flare for me. Guest guest
Ora, I can understand that but I'm with Suzy about having a constipated backside than the constant pain but for me though the reason I'm constipated now isn't b/c of the Vicodin but b/c of my endo. I do know though that when I do go to the bathroom sometimes if the amount of stool is quite large it will bother my vagina some and cause burning in my vulvar area. But the thing that I'm concerned about right now is that if I do go to the bathroom it starts the pain cycle for my endo again. It's b/c of the endo pain mixed with the vulvodynia that sometimes I don't post as often as I would like. ===== Kristy http://www.geocities.com/sokokl/kristyspersonalpage.html Hoping to be a nurse soon but for now just a Medical Secretary who does a lot of learning from reading on the Net, books, my dr(s), as well as sharing my own personal experiences. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Thank you Suzy and thanks everyone for the support. This was an awful week. The night I posted my husband got back around 11 so he got in bed and held me till I fell asleep. But I had another horrible day at work on Friday and I was really depressed Friday night. I have to admit that I was also sad about the death of on (along with the rest of the world) . Fortunately we went over to a friend's house and lots of my friends were there sitting around and talking. They were hilarious. I laughed so hard I almost peed. So I'm feeling a little better emotionally. I am enough better physically to not need the narcotics right now but that may not last. Anyway take care everyone and thanks for the kind words. Guest guest
, I hope you are still feeling a little better. This must be the time of flares. A number of women on another list I am on are also having bad times, and I have been flaming for the last 3 days. I was busy blubbering and feeling sorry for myself this morning, and like your husband, all mine could do was hold me. Sigh. Maybe if we all hold hands and think good thoughts... I think your laughter prescription is a good one. I'll try to hunt down something funny to read today. Take care and feel better.
