Hi all.

I thought I'd pass this on for those of you who might be interested in this chart showing the tender points of Fibromyalgia. I believe there's a certain percentage that have to be applicable and not just a few. Also below I've added an excellent URL for Fibro. Sorry for all those who have this, it's got to be debilitating.

Fibromyalgia

Location of tender points:

1. occiput: bilateral, at the suboccipital muscle insertions.2. low cervical: bilateral, at the anterior aspects of the intertransvese spaces at C5-C73. trapezius: bilateral, at the midpoint of the upper border4. supraspinatus: bilateral, at origins, above thescapula spine near the medial border5. second rib: bilateral, at the second costochondral junctions, on the upper surfaces6. lateral epicondyle: bilateral, 2 cm distal to the epicondyles7. gluteal: bilateral, in the upper outer quadrants of buttocks in anterior fold of muscle8. greater trochanter: bilateral, posterior to the trochanteric prominence9. knee: bilateral, at the medial fat pad proximal to the joint line

Whatever the cause, the symptoms of fibromyalgia appear to involve (at least in part) alterations in the parts of the brain that perceive pain. In the case of fibromyalgia from inflammatory conditions, the cause is probably increased levels of immune stimulating chemicals called "cytokines" or sometimes "lymphokines". These chemicals are well known to affect the brain. For ALL you would ever want to know about Fibro , go to Camilla's web site, it's phenomenal. (she was or still is one of our members) ..
