Guest guest
Dee---I have read that they are using DOXYCYCLINE for Gulf War Syndrome (those that fought in Desert Storm that got sick). They say it works great for those with that sickness. I remember it because as you said, it is old and cheap but no one uses it. Lynn > Lynn > > Two great articles on Lichen Planus, thank you!! As to it being called DIV or Desquamative inflammatory vaginitis for those who might run across that term. basically that's a descriptive term meaning the squamous cells are inflammed in the vagina. I was surprised to see them connect it with the term Lichen Planus but heck maybe that's what LP is. I think again we sometimes get lost in that maze of 'words', I think doctors get mixed up or confused with words as well. *sigh*, or try to give us a disagnosis that means very little, even Vulvodynia, which simply means painful Vulva. *sigh*. > > What was really interesting to me, was to see the use of the Steroids such as Clobetasol used internally in the vagina, which is really rare, and I can see why they also suggested the antibiotics as I recall that one article talking about the discharge. Or as in that one that mentioned 'strep' . I'd also like to make a comment on one of the antibiotics suggested and that's DOXYCYCLINE.. > > A while ago I did an exhaustive study on that as it was suggested for the Bells Palsey I had (and worked) and I'll tell you if I had a choice that would be the antibiotic I'd use for most things. It's an old one and has been out on the market quite a long time, time tested and proven. And it's so inexpensive you won't believe it, but somehow has fallen out of favor with the new drugs. *sigh*.. I KNOW it worked for me with the Bells Palsey. > > I also recall that the LP had the discharge as I said , and I'm positive that's why the addition of the antibiotic because there is some sort of underlying bacterial infection. . It's all there on that site, > > http://www.asccp.org/lichen_planus.asp > > http://1wms.com/omnirx/vaginitis/vaginitis_inform.htm > > Thanks again Lynn, good detective work and you may be getting somewhere. It may take the combination of a steroid & an antibiotic. > Hugs > Dee~
