Guest guest
Zsolt, Well stated, my friend, well stated. Do we really have to wait until spring to hear from you again? Mike The Zsolt wrote: dear pls-friends, susan, thank you for posting your list of activities. i am in total agreement with your programme. in addition to the things you listed, i also meditate and try to get myself outside to breathe fresh air. listening to beethoven helps, too -- his was an indomitable spirit inside a body that was psychologically and physically damaged. don, did you ever meet with the enkidu people about augmentative communication devices? what did you learn? if you've already written about it, and i've missed your posting, please send it to me privately. i'm glad to have recently read so many positive postings about exercise. i myself go to the warm water therapy pool four times each week for passive and active water therapy. i also do yoga and stretching at home. personally, i think that if we view exercise as a remedy or cure for our neurological challenges we're in for a lot of disappointment. however, if we view exercise as a way to enhance our well-being and create a more positive living environment, then we can only gain great benefit from it. in addition to any usefulness it provides in terms of mobility, it is also an aid to digestion, elimination, pain management, emotional well-being, and psychological wellness. it also provides a sense of doing something for oneself, a very important benefit at a time in our lives when we are increasingly reliant on others, some of us more extensively than others and occasionally in potentially humiliating ways. i believe it was dolores who mentioned that even if a person cannot 'exercise' he or she can always do stretching exercises. some years ago a friend of mine taught wheelchair dance classes for the elderly. i was always amazed at how much movement she had those people doing while sitting in a stationary wheelchair. and not only arms, but feet, legs, hips, torso, etc. isabella, you've brought up a question i have been meaning to ask. i think this issue might have been addressed earlier in the year, but don't quite remember and so am going to iterate isabella's question about muscle wasting. is anyone else having this symptom/sign? my feet, calves, shoulders, arms, and hands are all shrinking. it is to the point now where they are looking sickly as opposed to just thin. lastly, i personally think laurel had a good suggestion concerning the recent spate of nasty messages when she suggested we not just hit the send button as soon as our messages are complete. after writing a message, i myself set aside each posting for several hours or even several days, making sure to proof it well before sending. sometimes sentences that made sense when i wrote them aren't so clear when i reread them and i often find phrases that might easily be misconstrued. i realise this takes away some of the sense of informal 'chatting' that many of the members enjoy, but it does help alleviate unintentional misunderstandings. it's also worth remembering that the messages are archived, so everything that is posted is retrievable. children, grandchildren, spouses, doctors and attorneys can readily retrieve the things that have been posted. how do we want them to remember us? as nasty, mean-spirited people? or as warmhearted, helpful comrades? for those of you frying up your chanukah latkes, don't forget to smother them with lots of sour cream. remember, it's all about fat, the miracle of fat, eight days of fat lighting the way in the darkness. miracles turned into yummy-ness! by the way, the applesauce is meant as fibre to help the fat through the system so don't shy away from it either. for the rest of you, happy holidays of your choosing. until i blunder forth with more questions in the spring, be well, zsolt ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
