I don't have much of the drug left and my doctor doesn't want me on it anymore so I doubt she will re-prescribe it to me now. I'm still taking lexapro, ativan, and trazodone. Right now I'm focusing on getting off of the Seroquel and then the other stuff later on. Thank you for your help, Val>> ** Val, let me ask you something. If you cut yourself with a power saw, how long will it be before it heals if you don't go and get the recommended 32 stitches? You won't heal from this by just letting it be just as you won't heal from going off a drug that rapidly by waiting it out. Most people who do this actually deteriorate over time and end up totally disabled. Of course, chances are with the list you just gave me you are already totally disabled due to the drugs. Whoever put you on all these should be prosecuted. As I said, you will hurt yourself for years to come if you try to ride it out. You said that it's getting worse instead of better. This is what happens. There's no such thing as going off too quickly and having the symptoms you do and being able to recover by just waiting. I'm speaking from 22 years of experience and thousands of people, some who still chose to do nothing despite being told, as you've been told, how harmful that is. Just so you know, the worst thing you can do right now is be reducing any other drug when you are already in such bad withdrawal. If you make enough noise about how bad you are feeling (spare none of the details and cry id you need to), tel your doc you want to reinstate Seroquel in a regular formulation at 25 mg and decrease it more slowly so you don't feel this way. Be persistent. Call daily or twice a day if you must. Doctors respond to persistence. A general comment for everyone -- if you believe your doctor knows about these drugs you are mistaken. They believe what the pharmaceutical industry tells them. These SR, SL, etc. formulations were made that way to prevent you from ever being able to successfully discontinue them. So doctors with no ability for critical thought (most of them) play right into the hands of Big Pharma. Could other people please speak up here and tell Val your experiences and those of people you know who went off a drug too quickly and did not reinstate. I have clients who did this 5 years ago and still aren't right. Now I'm having terrible withdrawal symptoms including waves of nausea, muscle stiffness, involuntary muscle movements, irritabitlity, headaches and the list goes on. I was wondering if anyone else has gone through this after stopping this drug, what helped, and if anyone knows how long this will last? I figured the witdrawals would be getting better by now but seem to be getting worse. > > Thank you!>> > > > ** This is not going to go away very much. You'll still be miserable a couple of years from now. You went off too quickly. You can fix this by reinstating the drug at the 25 mg. level. Then, wait until you feel " normal " again. This should take only 1-4 days. After you have stabilized, let me know and I'll help you with your next steps. If you're on the XR formulation, please let me know. > > Believe me, you don't want to wait it out. It's more harmful than taking the drug. Guest guest
Hi Val, I'm one of the clients is referring to. 5 years ago, I made a big mess of things when I feared tolerance withdrawal from Effexor XR, discontinued it (and xanax) abruptly and ended up " trying " many other drugs after that, thinking I just needed to find a drug that will fit me. After more abrupt discontinuations, I ended up unable to work, unable to leave my home and collecting government disability payments. 3 years later, after I thought life was becoming livable again, some damages from the drugs (and more so from the cold turkey withdrawals) became quite evident. Long story short, I had to reinstate xanax and have been on it for 2 more years now. I've had to accept that I may be on it for quite some time until I can get the cold turkey damages (such as hypoglycemia, adrenal and thyroid issues and hormonal imbalances) under control and then I will finally wean off xanax as per 's recommendations. I remember fearing the drugs, thinking that the sooner I get them out of my body and detox, the sooner I can begin to heal. But discontinuing faster than the body can adjust is more damaging than just staying on the drugs. For me, waiting it out didn't work. Things got worse over the years. Being patient with this process and listening to your body will pay off. You'll thank yourself in the end. Guest guest
Ok, I will see if my prescriber will restart it and then go from there. I will let everyone know how it goes. Thank you all for responding, Val > > > > Netfrog225 said: > > > > > > <<I joined this group because for the past 3 years I've been taking Seroquel within the last year I was able to go down to 25mg at bedtime and subsequently was taken off of it three weeks ago.
