Guest guest
Hi Sherry, I too have a weight problem and have given serious consideration to my weight since Christmas this year. I put on too much weight and decided enough was enough and started a battle with Weight Watchers, then in Mid Feb this year was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer and had a TT on 03/08/02. My endo told me that after the TT, I would put on weight whilst waiting for my TSH levels to rise to 30 or above, which could take up up 6 weeks. So I can relate to your comments about how bad you feel already and copying with weight gain on top of your current problems and worries. Anyway, I was put on the LID immediately, which I started around 03/12/02, and I have stuck to it - as faithfully as I possibly can. My first scan was cancelled and I am awaiting another sheduled for 11th April. I will not know until then whether I can come off the LID or have to remain on it for a little while longer. I cannot tell you how GREAT it feels to have people say to me, " You've lost weight! " . I have to admit it is music to my ears. I am not trying to be a hero here, because as I have already mentioned I also felt depressed about the thought of putting on more weight - I mean - another kick in the teeth or what!! Specially if you are overweight to start with! Hang in there, excersise if you can, but maybe the LID could help you as it has me. I just made sure I kept to the diet; I do not have many " snack " foods. I just stick to my meals and try not to take in too much " oil " or " sugar " ..... beer is a great substitute for that " happy " moment. Except even that is restricted to one, otherwise I get too drunk (side affect of being Hypo). Hope this helps Debbie (English – living in USA) Parathyroidectomy 02/15/02 dx Pap ThyCa in Lymph Nodes on 02/22/02 TT 03/15/02 TSH 117 on 03/22/
