Guest guest
Dear Shenavar, You said: <<Hi there I am a new member and am also tapering abilify. If on 10mg pill then need to get a mortar and pestle and grind the pill up mix with some liquid (any liquid or has to be water?)and blend. Pour off a measured amount depending on the required dose. So removing 10% say 20ml from 200ml would give a 9mg dose? is this correct? Apparently if this is done there is lost residue on the pestle and mortar but only little so can be ignored? Does this method work kind regards shenavar>> ** Yes, you have the right idea. You can use any liquid that works (water doesn't work well for most). Hot liquid often works. The loss to the mortar and pestle is negligible. You may find 10% is too much for this drug. If so, try 5%. Be sure to wait until you feel as well or better than you felt prior to the reduction before doing the next reduction. Wellbutrin 100mg daily, Abilify is down from 5 mg daily to 2.5 mg daily. Did this in titration of 5 to 4.5 to 4 to 3.5 to 3 to 2.5. Since abilify is not scored and small pill, what I do is crush pill in mortar and pestle, mix in 10 oz. of water, high speed blend in a blender and pour off the accurate percentage. I stay at each new level for 2 weeks if stable, but longer - as needs be - if going into dangerous waters. > > want to share about rediscovering " stuck " stages of the self's evolution, upon the fog of drug starting to lift: > > I.e., being 54 years old and finding certain aspects of myself have not developed due to 1) drug alteration, 2) intensity of emotional states which led into the mental health world to begin with, 3) incompetency of the mental health system, at least the majority of the psychiatrists and therapists I saw, 4) lack of knowledge and support about who I really am. > > Perhaps this is better said in the social off line list as not directly related to W & R. But in another sense it is.........If getting " stuck " led to relying on mental health professionals who drugged us, now we need to find better alternatives, when many years later we become clearer off drugs and see that we are still " stuck " some places. > > I have meditated for about 6-7 years, done some yoga, diet changes, lots of art, music, poetry and journaling.
