Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for glass milk bottles--the one with the curvy shape. I saw the

ones from Camden Gray--I didn't like them because they were straight. Can

anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks a lot!

how about using widemouth half gallon Mason/Ball glass canning jars? that's what

I use.

some grocery stores, hardware stores, etc. carry them. you can also order them

online.

Look for homebrewing outlets in your area. That's where I got my

gallon jugs. Still, the widemouth jars are easier to clean. I had a

lot of trouble getting the fatty film out of the insides of the narrow

mouthed gallong jugs, tho a dishwasher may be able to do it.

A cold water wash with a hot rinse does a good job of keeping the

film off the jars. For some reason, you need the cold water to do

it. Just rinsing the bottle/jar with cold water as soon as you

empty it, makes it simple to wash later (either in dishwasher or by

hand).

I'm not sure if when you say " milk bottles " you mean a glass bottle

intended for milk, or just a 1/2 gallon glass container to put milk in

- if it is the latter, my friend was able to get some at Bi-Mart in

the canning section. I looked the other day and they were out.

Bi-Mart is a Northwest, generally smaller version of Wal-Mart (I don't

know where you live and if you are familiar with the chain). I bet

you could find something online. Google " half gallon glass " or

something like that. Maybe even www.bimart.com, if that's what their

site is. I too, want some half gallon jars, but haven't started a

search beyond Bi-Mart yet!!! Maybe go to canning company sites: Ball

(that's the brand my friend's jars are, I have one right here) or Kerr.

A bottle intended for milk (like they used to be delivered in) would

be better, though, as the mouth would probably be narrower, and more

conducive to pouring, and is probably what you meant, now that I think

about it. (Sorry, it's late and I should've been asleep a long time

ago...)

There is a company here in Oregon called Azure Standard over in Eastern

Oregon. They ship via UPS and they also have a lot of drop areas in

quite a few states (which no shipping costs). They are Oregon's

version of Radiant Life. I have found they sell 1/2 gallon jars a six

pack for $7 and change. They also have almost everything that

Nourishing Traditions recommends including Wilderness Family products

cheaper. Their website is www.azurestandard.com and when you sign up

the prices are lower(between $1-$2) than just looking on the website

without being signed on. If you find items you like add them to your

favorites list and when you are ready to shop you just go to your

favorites.
