Guest guest
My 20 month old DD and I are sensitive to naturally occurring food chemicals called amines, and she is also sensitive to another natural food chemical called salicylates. I've been trying to figure out the cause of these sensitivities, and also trying to learn how to heal us, and to prevent my future children from having these problems. My current theory is that this is caused by malfunctioning glutathione pathways and/or poor methylation. I've had discussions with a couple of people on this list already, but I'm looking for more feedback/thoughts on this. Is it possible to fix/heal from food chemical sensitivities? Is it theoretically possible to permanently fix glutathione pathways or methylation, or would we always have to take supplements (assuming I can get them working properly in the first place)? The various nutrients I've seen mentioned as possibly helping the glutathione pathways or methylation as folic acid (I'd probably get the 5-MTHF form), B12, selenium, N-acetylcysteine (sp?), SAMe, and B6. Thoughts on these nutrients, suggestions for doses, and that sort of thing? I'd prefer to get as much as possible from food as money is pretty tight, but with the limited number of foods that our sensitivities allow, I'm not sure how feasible that is.
