Guest guest
To answer your questions, the pain that I have been feeling most (and is the worst) is in my lower legs and feet. It initially manifested itself as this incredible ache in my shins and ankles, progressing to a feeling of large spikes being driven down my legs. Happily that did go away after about a month (argh) and what came next was a feeling all over my legs, although more on the back of my knees and lower legs/calfs, that each of my hair follicles was on fire. Anything that touches my legs (and now a bit on my arms and hands) feels like it is scratching me or cutting me. When I take my pants off I have to actually check to see if there are marks because that is the way it feels. The last awful manifestation has been a feeling on all my toes like they are being cut to ribbons by razor blades - almost like my socks are made from sharp knives. It too has subsided, which has been an incredible relief. It comes and goes now, but no where as severe as it was a couple of weeks ago. From all of this there have been periods where walking is terribly difficult, and even the simple act of sitting makes me uncomfortable - it is an all-the-time thing. It does get worse if I have to stand for long periods of time. Wearing socks and shoes makes it a bit more uncomfortable, being bare foot is the best because it helps keep my feet cool. As far as the cold icy feeling I get when taking the insulin - it is hard to describe, but does feel something like a deep deep freezing feeling, in my hands especially, that lasts for about 1/2 hour or so. It doesn't always happen, let's say maybe 75% of the time. I am due back to see my endocrinologist soon, so will be exploring with him the possibility that I may be having a slight allergic reaction to the insulin, however there are no marks or bruising or stuff like that at the injection point. I think that maybe it is still my body getting used to this new regime. I also still get the " hypo " feeling when my blood glucose is around 6 or so. i know that this is just my body realizing that it should be that low (as it is normal) and that will go away soon. Does it also hurt when you sit or stand or walk? What about shoes and socks? do those bother or irritate you? What part/s of your body hurts and feels the cold? Everywhere or localized areas? ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca
