Oh, yeah -- mine, too.

Competitive about everything: looks, men, weight, career, money, homes, cars.

She never owned a house in her life until I bought mine (almost immediately

after I did, and after moving to the same town I had moved to, of course.) She

bought the exact same make and model of my car. She always bragged about her

" movie star body " (yeah, right) and often wistfully commented that unfortunately

I was " built like my father " (who struggled with a lifelong weight problem).

Probably the worst of it was career-competitiveness, though. I became a writer,

which was (she decided after I chose this profession) apparently HER lifelong

dream. I had some success writing screenplays -- too much for her to compete

with -- so she opted for " the high road " and tried writing stage plays instead.

She never had any success at it, and is remarkably lacking in talent -- but at

68 years is still waiting for HER BIG BREAK.....

Ugghhhhh.
